Psalm 75

English Standard Version

1 To the choirmaster: according to Do Not Destroy. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We[1] recount your wondrous deeds. (Ps 50:1; Ps 57:1; Ps 145:18)2 “At the set time that I appoint I will judge with equity. (Ps 17:2; Ps 102:13; Da 8:19; Hab 2:3)3 When the earth totters, and all its inhabitants, it is I who keep steady its pillars. (1Sa 2:8; Isa 24:19)4 I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horn; (Ps 75:10; Zec 1:21)5 do not lift up your horn on high, or speak with haughty neck.’”6 For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up, (Ps 3:3)7 but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another. (1Sa 2:7; Ps 50:6; Da 2:21)8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup with foaming wine, well mixed, and he pours out from it, and all the wicked of the earth shall drain it down to the dregs. (Job 21:20; Ps 11:6; Ps 73:10; Pr 23:30)9 But I will declare it forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.10 All the horns of the wicked I will cut off, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up. (1Sa 2:1; Ps 75:4; Ps 89:17; Ps 112:9; Jer 48:25)

Psalm 75

New International Version

1 We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds.2 You say, ‘I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity.3 When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm.[1]4 To the arrogant I say, “Boast no more,” and to the wicked, “Do not lift up your horns.[2]5 Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.” ’6 No-one from the east or the west or from the desert can exalt themselves.7 It is God who judges: he brings one down, he exalts another.8 In the hand of the Lord is a cup full of foaming wine mixed with spices; he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth drink it down to its very dregs.9 As for me, I will declare this for ever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,10 who says, ‘I will cut off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.’
