Psalm 122

English Standard Version

1 A Song of Ascents. Of David. I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!” (Ps 120:1; Isa 2:3; Mic 4:2; Zec 8:21)2 Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem!3 Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together, (Ne 4:6; Ps 147:2)4 to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for[1] Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. (De 16:16; Ps 78:5)5 There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David. (De 17:8; 2Sa 15:2; 1Ki 3:16; 1Ki 7:7; 2Ch 19:8)6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you! (Ps 51:18; Jer 29:7)7 Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!” (Ps 48:13)8 For my brothers and companions’ sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” (1Sa 25:6; Ps 85:8)9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good. (Ne 2:10; Es 10:3)

Psalm 122

New International Version

1 I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’2 Our feet are standing in your gates, Jerusalem.3 Jerusalem is built like a city that is closely compacted together.4 That is where the tribes go up – the tribes of the Lord – to praise the name of the Lord according to the statute given to Israel.5 There stand the thrones for judgment, the thrones of the house of David.6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May those who love you be secure.7 May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.’8 For the sake of my family and friends, I will say, ‘Peace be within you.’9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your prosperity.
