1After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! 1Danach wurde mir etwas anderes gezeigt. Ich sah im[1] Himmel eine geöffnete Tür und hörte, wie die gleiche Stimme, die schon zuvor mit mir gesprochen hatte und die wie eine Posaune klang, zu mir sagte: »Komm hier herauf! Ich werde dir zeigen, was nach den Dingen, von denen du bereits gehört hast, noch kommen muss[2].«2Im gleichen Augenblick wurde ich vom Geist Gottes ergriffen.[3] Ich sah einen Thron im Himmel stehen, und auf dem Thron saß jemand,3von dem ein Leuchten ausging wie von einem Diamanten[4] oder einem Karneol. Ein Regenbogen, strahlend[5] wie ein Smaragd, umgab den Thron mit seinem Glanz.4Rings um den Thron standen vierundzwanzig andere Throne, und auf diesen Thronen saßen vierundzwanzig Älteste[6], die in weiße Gewänder gehüllt waren und goldene Kronen trugen.5Von dem Thron in der Mitte her zuckten Blitze auf, begleitet von Donnergrollen[7] und Donnerschlägen. Tag und Nacht rufen[11] diese Wesen immer wieder aufs Neue: »Heilig, heilig, heilig ist Gott, der Herr, der allmächtige Herrscher, er, der war, der ist und der kommt.«9Und sooft sie dem Ehre erweisen, der auf dem Thron sitzt und in alle Ewigkeit lebt, sooft sie ihn rühmen und ihm ihren Dank bringen,10werfen sich auch die vierundzwanzig Ältesten vor ihm nieder und beten ihn an – ihn, der auf dem Thron sitzt und in alle Ewigkeit lebt. Sie legen ihre Kronen vor seinem Thron nieder und rufen:11»Würdig bist du, Herr, unser Gott, Ruhm und Ehre zu empfangen und für deine Macht gepriesen zu werden[12]!
