1Ein Lied. Ein Psalm. Von den Korachitern[1]. (Ps 42:1)2Groß ist der HERR und sehr zu loben in der Stadt unseres Gottes. Dort erhebt sich sein heiliger Berg,3schön ragt er empor, eine Freude für die ganze Welt! Ja, der Berg Zion, der sich nach Norden erstreckt, gehört zur Stadt des großen Königs.[2]4Gott wohnt in ihren Palästen, und es ist überall bekannt: Er schenkt Zuflucht.5Könige anderer Völker hatten sich verbündet und waren gemeinsam gegen die Stadt gezogen.6Doch schon bei ihrem Anblick waren sie starr vor Schreck, von Entsetzen gepackt ergriffen sie die Flucht.7Sie zitterten und bebten wie eine Frau, die in den Wehen liegt.8Einst waren sie wie mächtige Schiffe aus Tarsis, doch du hast einen Ostwind geschickt und sie zerschellen lassen.[3]9Vorher kannten wir es nur vom Hören, nun haben wir selbst gesehen, was Gott getan hat dort in der Stadt, wo der allmächtige HERR[4] wohnt, in der Stadt unseres Gottes. Gott lässt sie für immer bestehen. //[5] (Ps 3:3)10Wir halten uns deine Gnade vor Augen, o Gott, wenn wir uns in deinem Tempel versammeln.11Gott, so weit wie dein Name bekannt ist, so weit reicht auch dein Ruhm – bis an die Enden der Erde. Deine starke Hand schafft uns Gerechtigkeit[6],12darum soll Freude herrschen auf dem Berg Zion. Ja, alle Städte in Juda[7] haben Grund, laut zu jubeln über die gerechten Urteile, die du vollstreckst.13Zieht rings um den Berg Zion, geht um die Stadt und zählt ihre Festungstürme!14Bestaunt ihre Schutzwälle[8] und richtet euren Blick auf die Paläste[9]! Dann könnt ihr späteren Generationen erzählen:15Ja, so ist Gott, er bleibt unser Gott für immer und ewig! Er wird uns führen bis zum Tod[10]. (Ps 9:1; Ps 49:1)
