Psalm 24

English Standard Version



1 A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof,[1] the world and those who dwell therein, (Ex 9:29; Ex 19:5; De 10:14; Job 41:11; Ps 50:12; Ps 89:11; 1Co 10:26) 2 for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers. (Ge 1:9; Job 38:6; Ps 104:5; Ps 136:6; Pr 8:29) 3 Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? (Ps 2:6; Ps 15:1) 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully. (De 10:12; Job 22:30; Ps 31:6; Ps 73:1; Ps 119:37; Isa 33:15; Eze 18:6; Mic 6:8; Mt 5:8) 5 He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. (Ge 22:17; Ps 27:9; Ps 38:22; Ps 51:14; Ps 88:1; Isa 46:13; Isa 56:1) 6 Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.[2] (Ps 14:5; Ps 27:8; Ps 105:4) 7 Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. (Ps 118:19; Isa 26:2; 1Co 2:8) 8 Who is this King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty, the Lord, mighty in battle! (Ex 15:3) 9 Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. 10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory! (Mal 1:14)

1 Von David. Ein Psalm. Die Erde und alles, was darauf lebt, gehört dem HERRN, der ganze Erdkreis samt seinen Bewohnern. 2 Denn er selbst hat das Fundament der Erde auf dem Grund der Meere befestigt[1], und über den Wassern gab er ihr festen Bestand. 3 Wer darf zum Berg des HERRN hinaufgehen, und wer darf an seiner heiligen Stätte vor ihm stehen? 4 Jeder, dessen Herz und Hände frei von Schuld sind[2], der keine Götzen anbetet[3] und keinen Meineid schwört. 5 Er wird Segen empfangen vom HERRN; Gott, sein Retter, wird ihm in Treue begegnen.[4] 6 Daran erkennt man Gottes wahres Volk, Menschen, die nach ihm fragen: es sind die, HERR, die deine Nähe suchen und vor dein Angesicht treten. Sie sind die rechten Nachkommen Jakobs.[5] //[6] (Ps 3:3) 7 Tut euch weit auf, ihr mächtigen Tore, gebt den Weg frei, ihr uralten Pforten[7], damit der König der Herrlichkeit einziehen kann. 8 Wer ist dieser König der Herrlichkeit? Es ist der HERR, stark und mächtig, der HERR, mächtig im Kampf. 9 Tut euch weit auf, ihr mächtigen Tore, gebt den Weg frei, ihr uralten Pforten, damit der König der Herrlichkeit einziehen kann. 10 Wer ist dieser König der Herrlichkeit? Der allmächtige HERR[8], er ist der König der Herrlichkeit. //
