Die Verklärung Jesu

1 Und nach sechs Tagen nimmt Jesus den Petrus und Jakobus und Johannes, seinen Bruder, mit und führt sie abseits auf einen hohen Berg. (Mt 26,37; Mk 5,37) 2 Und er wurde vor ihnen umgestaltet. Und sein Angesicht leuchtete wie die Sonne, seine Kleider aber wurden weiß wie das Licht; (Mt 28,3; Offb 1,16) 3 und siehe, Mose und Elia erschienen ihnen und unterredeten sich mit ihm. 4 Petrus aber begann^[1] und sprach zu Jesus: Herr, es ist gut, dass wir hier sind. Wenn du willst, werde ich hier drei Hütten machen, dir eine und Mose eine und Elia eine. 5 Während er noch redete, siehe, da überschattete sie eine lichte Wolke, und siehe, eine Stimme ⟨kam⟩ aus der Wolke, welche sprach: Dieser ist mein geliebter Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen gefunden habe. Ihn hört! (2Mo 24,16; 5Mo 18,15; Mt 3,17) 6 Und als die Jünger es hörten, fielen sie auf ihr Angesicht und fürchteten sich sehr. 7 Und Jesus trat herbei, rührte sie an und sprach: Steht auf und fürchtet euch nicht! 8 Als sie aber ihre Augen aufhoben, sahen sie niemand als ihn, Jesus, allein. (Hebr 12,2) 9 Und als sie von dem Berg herabstiegen, gebot ihnen Jesus und sprach: Sagt niemandem die Erscheinung ⟨weiter⟩, bis der Sohn des Menschen aus den Toten auferweckt worden ist! (Mt 16,20) 10 Und die Jünger fragten ihn und sprachen: Was sagen denn die Schriftgelehrten, dass Elia zuerst kommen müsse? (Mt 16,14) 11 Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Elia kommt zwar und wird alle Dinge wiederherstellen. (Mal 3,23; Apg 3,21) 12 Ich sage euch aber, dass Elia schon gekommen ist, und sie haben ihn nicht erkannt, sondern an ihm getan, was sie wollten. Ebenso wird auch der Sohn des Menschen von ihnen leiden. (Mt 16,20) 13 Da verstanden die Jünger, dass er von Johannes dem Täufer zu ihnen sprach. Heilung eines Fallsüchtigen

14 Und als sie zu der Volksmenge kamen, trat ein Mensch zu ihm und fiel vor ihm auf die Knie (Lk 8,41) 15 und sprach: Herr, erbarme dich meines Sohnes! Denn er ist anfallskrank und leidet arg; denn oft fällt er ins Feuer und oft ins Wasser. 16 Und ich brachte ihn zu deinen Jüngern, doch sie konnten ihn nicht heilen. 17 Jesus aber antwortete und sprach: Ungläubiges und verkehrtes Geschlecht! Bis wann soll ich bei euch sein? Bis wann soll ich euch ertragen? Bringt ihn mir her! (4Mo 14,11; 5Mo 32,5; Apg 2,40; Phil 2,15)

18 Und Jesus bedrohte ihn, und der Dämon fuhr von ihm aus; und von jener Stunde an war der Junge geheilt. (Mt 8,16; Apg 10,38) 19 Da traten die Jünger für sich allein zu Jesus und sprachen: Warum haben wir ihn nicht austreiben können? 20-21 Er aber spricht zu ihnen: Wegen eures Kleinglaubens^[2]; denn wahrlich, ich sage euch, wenn ihr Glauben habt wie ein Senfkorn, so werdet ihr zu diesem Berg sagen: Hebe dich weg von hier dorthin!, und er wird sich hinwegheben. Zweite Leidensankündigung

22 Als sie sich aber in Galiläa aufhielten^[4], sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Der Sohn des Menschen wird überliefert werden in der Menschen Hände, (Mt 26,45) 23 und sie werden ihn töten, und am dritten Tag wird er auferweckt werden. Und sie wurden sehr betrübt. (Mt 9,15; Mt 16,21; Mk 8,31; Lk 9,22; Joh 16,6)

Die Tempelsteuer

24 Als sie aber nach Kapernaum kamen, traten die Einnehmer der Doppeldrachmen zu Petrus und sprachen: Zahlt euer Lehrer nicht die Doppeldrachmen^[5]? (2Mo 30,12; 2Chr 24,6; Neh 10,33) 25 Er sagt: Doch. Und als er in das Haus eintrat, kam Jesus ihm zuvor und sprach: Was meinst du, Simon? Von wem erheben die Könige der Erde Zoll oder Steuer, von ihren Söhnen oder von den Fremden? 26 Da er aber sagte: Von den Fremden, sprach Jesus zu ihm: Demnach sind die Söhne frei. 27 Damit wir ihnen aber keinen Anstoß geben, geh an den See, wirf eine Angel aus und nimm den ersten Fisch, der heraufkommt, öffne sein Maul, und du wirst einen Stater^[6] finden; den nimm und gib ihnen für mich und dich! Jesus’ appearance is changed

1 After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John the brother of James with him. He led them up a high mountain. They were all alone. 2 There in front of them his appearance was changed. His face shone like the sun. His clothes became as white as the light. 3 Just then Moses and Elijah appeared in front of them. Moses and Elijah were talking with Jesus. 4 Peter said to Jesus, ‘Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters. One will be for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.’ 5 While Peter was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them. A voice from the cloud said, ‘This is my Son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him. Listen to him!’ 6 When the disciples heard this, they were terrified. They fell with their faces to the ground. 7 But Jesus came and touched them. ‘Get up’, he said. ‘Don’t be afraid.’ 8 When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus. 9 They came down the mountain. On the way down, Jesus told them what to do. ‘Don’t tell anyone what you have seen,’ he said. ‘Wait until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.’ 10 The disciples asked him, ‘Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah has to come first?’ 11 Jesus replied, ‘That’s right. Elijah is supposed to come and make all things new again. 12 But I tell you, Elijah has already come. People didn’t recognise him. They have done to him everything they wanted to do. In the same way, they are going to make the Son of Man suffer.’ 13 Then the disciples understood that Jesus was talking to them about John the Baptist.

Jesus heals a boy who is controlled by a demon

14 When they came near the crowd, a man approached Jesus. He got on his knees in front of him. 15 ‘Lord’, he said, ‘have mercy on my son. He shakes wildly and suffers a great deal. He often falls into the fire or into the water. 16 I brought him to your disciples. But they couldn’t heal him.’ 17 ‘You unbelieving and evil people!’ Jesus replied. ‘How long do I have to stay with you? How long do I have to put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.’ 18 Jesus ordered the demon to leave the boy, and it came out of him. He was healed at that moment. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private. They asked, ‘Why couldn’t we drive out the demon?’ 20-21 He replied, ‘Because your faith is much too small. What I’m about to tell you is true. If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, it is enough. You can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there.” And it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.’

Jesus speaks a second time about his coming death

22 They came together in Galilee. Then Jesus said to them, ‘The Son of Man is going to be handed over to men. 23 They will kill him. On the third day he will rise from the dead.’ Then the disciples were filled with deep sadness.

Jesus pays the temple tax

24 Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum. There the people who collect the temple tax came to Peter. They asked him, ‘Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?’ 25 ‘Yes, he does,’ he replied. When Peter came into the house, Jesus spoke first. ‘What do you think, Simon?’ he asked. ‘Who do the kings of the earth collect taxes and fees from? Do they collect them from their own children or from others?’ 26 ‘From others’, Peter answered. ‘Then the children don’t have to pay,’ Jesus said to him. 27 ‘But we don’t want to make them angry. So go to the lake and throw out your fishing line. Take the first fish you catch. Open its mouth. There you will find the exact coin you need. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.’
