1Booz subió a la puerta y se sentó allí; y he aquí pasaba aquel pariente más cercano, del cual Booz había hablado, y le dijo: ¡Eh, fulano, ven acá y siéntate! Y él se desvió y se sentó.2Y tomando diez varones de los ancianos de la ciudad, dijo: Sentaos aquí. Y se sentaron.3Luego dijo al pariente más cercano: Noemí, que ha vuelto del campo de Moab, vende la parcela de tierra que era de nuestro hermano Elimelec.4Y decidí hacértelo saber, y decirte frente a los que están aquí sentados, y frente a los ancianos de mi pueblo, que la compres. Si quieres redimirla, redímela; y si no quieres redimirla, decláramelo para que lo sepa, porque no hay nadie para redimirla fuera de ti, y yo después de ti. Y él dijo: Yo la redimiré.5Pero Booz añadió: El día que adquieras el campo de mano de Noemí, deberás tomar también a Rut la moabita, mujer del difunto, para perpetuar el nombre del muerto sobre su herencia.6Y el pariente más cercano respondió: Entonces no podré redimirla para mí, pues destruiría mi heredad. Redime tú usando mi derecho, porque yo no podré redimir.7Desde antiguo había una tradición en Israel tocante a la redención y al intercambio para confirmar cualquier asunto: uno se quitaba el calzado y se lo daba al otro, y esto servía de testimonio en Israel.8Entonces el pariente más cercano dijo a Booz: Adquiérela para ti. Y se quitó el calzado.9Entonces Booz anunció a los ancianos y a todo el pueblo: Vosotros sois testigos hoy de que he adquirido de mano de Noemí todo lo que fue de Elimelec, y todo lo que fue de Quelión y de Mahlón.10Además he adquirido a Rut la moabita, mujer de Mahlón, para que sea mi mujer a fin de perpetuar el nombre del difunto sobre su heredad, y que el nombre del difunto no sea cortado de entre sus hermanos ni de la puerta de su lugar. Vosotros sois testigos hoy.11Y todos los del pueblo que estaban en la puerta, juntamente con los ancianos, dijeron: ¡Testigos somos! ¡YHVH te conceda que la mujer que va a entrar en tu casa sea como Raquel y como Lea, las cuales edificaron la casa de Israel, y te hagas fuerte en Efrata, y tu nombre sea famoso en Bet-léhem,12y tu casa venga a ser como la casa de Fares, que Tamar le parió a Judá, por la descendencia que YHVH te dará de esta joven!13Booz tomó pues a Rut, y ella fue su mujer; y se llegó ella, y YHVH le concedió gravidez y dio a luz un hijo.14Y las mujeres decían a Noemí: ¡Bendito sea YHVH que no ha permitido que te falte redentor el día de hoy! ¡Sea pues su nombre famoso en Israel!15¡Sea para ti restaurador del alma y sustentador de tu vejez!, porque tu nuera, que te ama, le ha dado a luz, y ella te vale más que siete hijos.16Y tomando Noemí al niño, lo puso en su pecho y fue su nodriza.17Y las mujeres vecinas le dieron un nombre diciendo: A Noemí le ha nacido un hijo; y lo llamaron Obed. Éste es padre de Isaí, padre de David.18Éstas son las generaciones de Fares: Fares engendró a Hezrón,19Hezrón engendró a Ram, y Ram engendró a Aminadab;20Aminadab engendró a Naasón, y Naasón engendró a Salmón;21Salmón engendró a Booz, y Booz engendró a Obed;22Obed engendró a Isaí, e Isaí engendró a David.

1Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.2And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.3And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech':4And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it , redeem it : but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it .5Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.6And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it .7Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.8Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.9And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech', and all that was Chilion' and Mahlon', of the hand of Naomi.10Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.11And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:12And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.13So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.14And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.15And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.16And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.17And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.18Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,19And Hezron begat Ram, and Ram begat Amminadab,20And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,21And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,22And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
