Canto de Débora

Marcha con poder ¡oh alma mía! 22 Entonces resonaron los cascos de caballos, Por el continuo galopar de sus corceles. 23 ¡Maldecid a Meroz! dice el ángel de YHVH, Maldecid severamente a sus moradores, Porque no vinieron en ayuda de YHVH, En ayuda de YHVH con los valientes. 24 ¡Bendita Jael entre las mujeres, Mujer de Heber ceneo, Entre las mujeres de la tienda, bendita sea en gran manera! 25 Pidió agua, y le dio leche; En tazón de nobles le acercó cuajada. 26 Llevó su mano a la estaca, Y echó mano al mazo de artesano; A Sísara golpeó, machacó su cabeza, Le quebró y atravesó su sien. 27 A los pies de ella se encorvó, Cayó, quedó tendido; A sus pies quedó encorvado, Y donde se encorvó, quedó muerto. 28 La madre de Sísara se asoma a la ventana, Y clama por entre las celosías: ¿Por qué tarda su carro en venir? ¿Por qué se han detenido las ruedas de sus carruajes? 29 La más sabia de sus damas le responde, Pero ella se repite las palabras: 30 ¿Ya agarran el botín y lo reparten? Un útero o dos por cada guerrero, Paños de colores para Sísara, Recamados y bordados para cuellos de cautivas. ¡Gran botín! 31 ¡Así perezcan todos tus enemigos, oh YHVH! ¡Los que te aman sean fuertes como el brillar del sol en su salir!

1 Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying, 2 Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves. 3 Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel. 4 LORD, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water. 5 The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel. 6 In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways. 7 The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel. 8 They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel? 9 My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. And the land had rest forty years.
