1Los filisteos pues tomaron el Arca de Dios y la llevaron de Eben-ezer a Asdod.2Y tomando los filisteos el Arca de Dios, la introdujeron en el templo de Dagón, y la colocaron junto a Dagón.3Pero cuando los de Asdod madrugaron al día siguiente, ¡he aquí Dagón postrado en tierra ante el Arca de YHVH! Y tomaron a Dagón y lo volvieron a su sitio.4Al día siguiente volvieron a madrugar y, ¡he aquí Dagón yacía caído en tierra ante el Arca de YHVH! y la cabeza de Dagón y las palmas de sus manos aparecían cortadas en el umbral. Sólo le quedaba la parte de pez.5Por esta causa, los sacerdotes de Dagón y todos los que entran en el templo de Dagón, no pisan el umbral de Dagón en Asdod hasta este día.6Y la mano de YHVH se agravó sobre los de Asdod, y los castigó y los hirió con una epidemia de hemorroides en Asdod y en todos sus alrededores.7Al ver esto, los de Asdod dijeron: El Arca del Dios de Israel no debe permanecer con nosotros, porque su mano se ha endurecido contra nosotros y contra Dagón nuestro dios.8Y convocaron a todos los príncipes de los filisteos, y dijeron: ¿Qué haremos con el Arca del Dios de Israel? Y ellos respondieron: Que el Arca del Dios de Israel sea trasladada a Gat. E hicieron trasladar el Arca del Dios de Israel.9Pero sucedió que después que la hubieron trasladado, la mano de YHVH cayó contra la ciudad causando gran consternación, y golpeó a los hombres de aquella ciudad desde el pequeño hasta el grande, de modo que les brotaron hemorroides.10Entonces enviaron el Arca de Dios a Ecrón. Y cuando el Arca de Dios llegó a Ecrón, los ecronitas dieron voces diciendo: ¡Han traído el Arca del Dios de Israel para matarnos a nosotros y a nuestro pueblo!11Y convocaron a todos los príncipes de los filisteos, y dijeron: ¡Sacad de aquí el Arca del Dios de Israel y enviadla de vuelta a su propio lugar, para que no nos mate a nosotros y a nuestro pueblo! Porque había un pánico mortal en toda la ciudad, y la mano de Dios se había agravado mucho allí.12Y los que no morían, eran afectados con hemorroides; y el clamor de la ciudad subía a los cielos.

1And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.2When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.3And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again.4And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him.5Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon' house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day.6But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof.7And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.8They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about thither .9And it was so , that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts.10Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people.11So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.12And the men that died not were smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the city went up to heaven.
