1 Au chef de chœur, à chanter sur la mélodie des « Lis[1] de la Loi ». Psaume d’Asaph[2]. (Ps 50:1) 2 O Berger d’Israël, ╵tends vers moi ton oreille, toi qui conduis Joseph[3] ╵comme un troupeau! O toi qui sièges ╵entre les chérubins[4], parais dans ta splendeur (Gn 48:5; Gn 48:8; Ex 25:22; 1R 6:23) 3 aux regards d’Ephraïm, ╵de Benjamin, ╵de Manassé[5]! ╵Déploie ta force! Viens nous sauver! (Nb 10:21) 4 O Dieu, rétablis-nous, montre-toi favorable, ╵et nous serons sauvés! 5 O Eternel, ╵Dieu des armées célestes, jusques à quand ╵seras-tu en colère en réponse aux prières ╵que t’adresse ton peuple? 6 Tu le nourris ╵d’un pain trempé de pleurs. Tu lui fais boire ╵des larmes sans mesure. 7 Tu fais de nous ╵un brandon de discorde ╵pour nos voisins! Et nos ennemis se moquent de nous. 8 Dieu des armées célestes, ╵rétablis-nous, montre-toi favorable, ╵et nous serons sauvés! 9 Tu avais arraché ╵de l’Egypte une vigne[6], puis tu as chassé des peuplades, ╵et tu l’as replantée. (Is 5:1; Is 27:2; Ez 15:1; Jn 15:1) 10 Tu avais déblayé ╵le terrain devant elle et elle a pris racine ╵profondément en terre, ╵puis elle a rempli le pays. 11 Son ombre couvrait les montagnes, ses sarments ressemblaient ╵aux plus grands cèdres. 12 Elle étendait ╵ses vrilles vers la mer et ses rejets ╵allaient jusqu’à l’Euphrate[7]. 13 Pourquoi as-tu ╵défoncé ses clôtures? Tous les passants ╵viennent y grappiller. 14 Le sanglier ╵qui sort de la forêt ╵la retourne en tous sens. Les animaux des champs ╵viennent y pâturer. 15 Dieu des armées célestes, ╵reviens enfin! Jette un regard ╵du haut du ciel et vois! Viens t’occuper ╵de cette vigne! 16 Viens protéger ╵ce cep que tu as toi-même planté, ce rejeton[8] ╵que tu as fait grandir pour toi! (Gn 49:22) 17 On y a mis le feu, ╵elle a été coupée! Que sous l’effet de ta colère ╵les ennemis périssent! 18 Protège l’homme ╵qui se tient à ta droite, cet homme que pour ton service ╵tu as fortifié. 19 Et, jamais plus, ╵nous ne te quitterons. Fais-nous revivre ╵et nous t’invoquerons! 20 O Eternel, ╵Dieu des armées célestes, ╵rétablis-nous, montre-toi favorable, ╵et nous serons sauvés!

1 To the choirmaster: according to Lilies. A Testimony. Of Asaph, a Psalm. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth. (Ex 25:22; 1S 4:4; 2S 6:2; Ps 50:1; Ps 50:2; Ps 60:1; Ps 77:20; Ps 78:67; Ps 81:5; Ps 95:7; Ps 99:1) 2 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your might and come to save us! (Nb 2:18; Ps 35:23; Ps 118:14; Ps 118:21) 3 Restore us,[1] O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved! (Nb 6:25; Ps 4:6; Ps 60:1; Ps 80:19; Ps 85:4; La 5:21) 4 O Lord God of hosts, how long will you be angry with your people’s prayers? (Ps 59:5; Ps 74:10; Ps 79:5) 5 You have fed them with the bread of tears and given them tears to drink in full measure. (1R 22:27; Ps 42:3; Ps 102:9; Is 30:20) 6 You make us an object of contention for our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves. (Ps 44:13) 7 Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved! (Ps 80:3) 8 You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it. (Ps 44:2; Is 5:1; Is 27:2; Jr 2:21; Jr 12:10; Ez 17:6; Mt 21:33; Mc 12:1; Lc 20:9) 9 You cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land. (Jos 24:12) 10 The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches. 11 It sent out its branches to the sea and its shoots to the River.[2] (Ps 72:8) 12 Why then have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit? (Ps 89:40; Is 5:5) 13 The boar from the forest ravages it, and all that move in the field feed on it. (Jr 5:6) 14 Turn again, O God of hosts! Look down from heaven, and see; have regard for this vine, (Is 63:15) 15 the stock that your right hand planted, and for the son whom you made strong for yourself. 16 They have burned it with fire; they have cut it down; may they perish at the rebuke of your face! (Ps 39:11; Ps 76:6; Is 33:12) 17 But let your hand be on the man of your right hand, the son of man whom you have made strong for yourself! (Ps 89:21) 18 Then we shall not turn back from you; give us life, and we will call upon your name! (Ps 71:20) 19 Restore us, O Lord God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved! (Ps 80:3; Ps 80:7)
