1Approchez, ô nations, ╵pour écouter, vous peuples, prêtez attention! Car pour l’Eternel est prévu ╵un sacrifice dans Botsra et un grand carnage en Edom.7En même temps, les buffles tomberont, avec les bœufs et les taureaux, le pays tout entier ╵est abreuvé de sang, la poussière du sol ╵est imprégnée de graisse,8car il y a un jour ╵où l’Eternel rétribuera, et une année ╵où il fera rendre des comptes ╵pour défendre la cause de Sion.9Les rivières d’Edom ╵seront changées en poix et sa poussière en soufre, et tout son territoire ╵deviendra de la poix brûlante.10Ni la nuit ni le jour, ╵elle ne s’éteindra, sa fumée montera ╵à perpétuité et, pour toujours[3], ╵Edom restera ravagé: personne n’y passera plus. Ce sera un repaire ╵pour les chacals, un domaine pour les autruches:14les bêtes du désert ╵y trouveront les hyènes, les boucs sauvages ╵s’y héleront l’un l’autre. La chouette nocturne ╵viendra s’y reposer car elle y trouvera ╵un endroit bien tranquille.15Le serpent y fera son nid ╵et y pondra ses œufs, il les y couvera ╵et les fera éclore sous son ombre. Là, les vautours ╵se rassembleront tous, chacun avec son compagnon.

16Consultez et lisez le livre ╵de l’Eternel: aucun des membres de son peuple, ╵ne manquera, aucun d’eux n’aura à chercher[5] ╵en vain son compagnon, car l’Eternel, ╵de sa bouche, en a donné l’ordre, c’est son Esprit ╵qui les a rassemblées.17Il a lui-même ╵tiré au sort ╵pour assigner ╵à chacun d’eux son lot, il leur a partagé ╵le pays au cordeau: ils l’auront en partage ╵à tout jamais, ils y habiteront toujours.

1Draw near, O nations, to hear, and give attention, O peoples! Let the earth hear, and all that fills it; the world, and all that comes from it. (Jos 6:21)3Their slain shall be cast out, and the stench of their corpses shall rise; the mountains shall flow with their blood.
