1The Lord said to Moses,2‘Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually.3Outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps before the Lord from evening till morning, continually. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come.4The lamps on the pure gold lampstand before the Lord must be tended continually.5‘Take the finest flour and bake twelve loaves of bread, using one-fifth of an ephah[1] for each loaf.6Arrange them in two piles, six in each pile, on the table of pure gold before the Lord.7By each pile put some pure incense as a memorial[2] portion to represent the bread and to be a food offering presented to the Lord.8This bread is to be set out before the Lord regularly, Sabbath after Sabbath, on behalf of the Israelites, as a lasting covenant.9It belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in the sanctuary area, because it is a most holy part of their perpetual share of the food offerings presented to the Lord.’
A blasphemer put to death
10Now the son of an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father went out among the Israelites, and a fight broke out in the camp between him and an Israelite.11The son of the Israelite woman used the Name blasphemously with a curse; so they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri the Danite.)12They put him in custody until the will of the Lord should be made clear to them.13Then the Lord said to Moses:14‘Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him.15Say to the Israelites: “Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible;16anyone who uses the name of the Lord blasphemously is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native-born, when they use the Name blasphemously they are to be put to death.17‘ “Anyone who takes the life of a human being is to be put to death.18Anyone who takes the life of someone’s animal must make restitution – life for life.19Anyone who injures their neighbour is to be injured in the same manner:20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. The one who has inflicted the injury must suffer the same injury.21Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a human being is to be put to death.22You are to have the same law for the foreigner and the native-born. I am the Lord your God.” ’23Then Moses spoke to the Israelites, and they took the blasphemer outside the camp and stoned him. The Israelites did as the Lord commanded Moses.

English Standard Version
The Lamps
1The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, (Ex 27:20)2“Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil from beaten olives for the lamp, that a light may be kept burning regularly.3Outside the veil of the testimony, in the tent of meeting, Aaron shall arrange it from evening to morning before the Lord regularly. It shall be a statute forever throughout your generations.4He shall arrange the lamps on the lampstand of pure gold[1] before the Lord regularly. (Ex 31:8; Ex 39:37)
Bread for the Tabernacle
5“You shall take fine flour and bake twelve loaves from it; two tenths of an ephah[2] shall be in each loaf. (Ex 25:30)6And you shall set them in two piles, six in a pile, on the table of pure gold[3] before the Lord. (Ex 25:23; 1Ki 7:48; 2Ch 4:19; 2Ch 13:11; Heb 9:2)7And you shall put pure frankincense on each pile, that it may go with the bread as a memorial portion as a food offering to the Lord.8Every Sabbath day Aaron shall arrange it before the Lord regularly; it is from the people of Israel as a covenant forever. (Nu 4:7; 1Ch 9:32; 2Ch 2:4)9And it shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place, since it is for him a most holy portion out of the Lord’s food offerings, a perpetual due.” (Ex 29:33; Le 6:16; Le 8:31; Le 21:22; 1Sa 21:6; Mt 12:4; Mr 2:26; Lu 6:4)
Punishment for Blasphemy
10Now an Israelite woman’s son, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the people of Israel. And the Israelite woman’s son and a man of Israel fought in the camp,11and the Israelite woman’s son blasphemed the Name, and cursed. Then they brought him to Moses. His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan. (Ex 3:14; Ex 18:22; Ex 18:26; Le 24:16; Php 2:9)12And they put him in custody, till the will of the Lord should be clear to them. (Ex 18:15; Nu 15:34; Nu 27:5; Nu 36:5)13Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,14“Bring out of the camp the one who cursed, and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him. (Le 24:23; De 13:9; De 17:7)15And speak to the people of Israel, saying, Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin. (Ex 20:7; Le 5:1; Le 20:17; Le 20:20; Le 22:9; Nu 9:13)16Whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death. (Le 24:11; 1Ki 21:10; 1Ki 21:13; Mt 26:65; Mr 14:63; Joh 10:33)
An Eye for an Eye
17“Whoever takes a human life shall surely be put to death. (Ge 9:5; Ex 21:12; Nu 35:31; De 19:11)18Whoever takes an animal’s life shall make it good, life for life. (Ex 21:33)19If anyone injures his neighbor, as he has done it shall be done to him, (Ex 21:23; De 19:21; Mt 5:38; Mt 7:2)20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth; whatever injury he has given a person shall be given to him.21Whoever kills an animal shall make it good, and whoever kills a person shall be put to death. (Le 24:17; Le 24:18)22You shall have the same rule for the sojourner and for the native, for I am the Lord your God.” (Ex 12:49; Le 19:34; Nu 15:16)23So Moses spoke to the people of Israel, and they brought out of the camp the one who had cursed and stoned him with stones. Thus the people of Israel did as the Lord commanded Moses. (Le 24:14)
