Psalm 149

King James Version

1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. 

2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King. 

3 Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. 

4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. 

5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. 

6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand; 

7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; 

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; 

9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.

Sing to the Lord a New Song

1 Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! (Ps 33:3; Ps 89:5; Ps 89:7; Ps 148:14) 

2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! (1Sa 12:12; Job 35:10; Ps 85:6; Ps 95:6; Zec 9:9) 

3 Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! (Ex 15:20; Ps 30:11; Ps 150:3; Ps 150:4) 

4 For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. (Ps 35:27; Ps 147:11; Isa 61:3) 

5 Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds. (Job 35:10; Ps 4:4; Ps 63:6; Ho 7:14) 

6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats and two-edged swords in their hands, (Ps 66:17; Pr 5:4; Heb 4:12; Re 1:16; Re 2:12) 

7 to execute vengeance on the nations and punishments on the peoples, 

8 to bind their kings with chains and their nobles with fetters of iron, (Job 36:8) 

9 to execute on them the judgment written! This is honor for all his godly ones. Praise the Lord! (Job 13:26; Ps 148:14; Isa 65:6)
