1Und das Los des Stammes der Söhne Judas nach ihren Geschlechtern lag an der Grenze von Edom, der Wüste Zin, nach Süden, am südlichsten Ende.2Und ihre südliche Grenze beginnt am Ende des Salzmeeres, bei der Zunge, die nach Süden reicht,*3und sie erstreckt sich gegen Süden zum Skorpionensteig und hinüber nach Zin und wieder gegen Süden nach Kadesch-Barnea hinauf und nach Hezron hin und nach Adar hinauf und wendet sich nach Karka;4dann geht sie hinüber nach Azmon und hinaus an den Bach Ägyptens, sodass das Meer* das Ende der Grenze bildet. Das sei eure südliche Grenze!5Und die östliche Grenze ist das Salzmeer bis zur Mündung des Jordan. Die Grenze an der Nordseite aber beginnt bei der Zunge des Meeres an der Mündung des Jordan*6und geht hinauf nach Beth-Hogla und zieht sich hinüber gegen Norden nach Beth-Arava; und die Grenze steigt hinauf zum Stein Bohans, des Sohnes Rubens,7und die Grenze steigt hinauf von dem Tal Achor nach Debir und wendet sich nördlich nach Gilgal, gegenüber Maale-Adummim, das südlich an dem Bach liegt. Danach geht die Grenze zu dem Wasser En-Schemesch und erstreckt sich nach En-Rogel,8und die Grenze geht danach hinauf zum Tal des Sohnes Hinnoms,* zum Bergrücken der Jebusiter gegen Süden, das ist Jerusalem;* und sie geht hinauf zur Spitze des Berges, der westlich vor dem Tal Hinnom liegt und nördlich an das Ende des Tales der Rephaiter stößt.9Danach wendet sich die Grenze von der Spitze desselben Berges hin zu der Quelle des Wassers Nephtoach und gelangt zu den Städten des Berglandes Ephron und wendet sich nach Baala, das ist Kirjat-Jearim.10Und die Grenze wendet sich herum von Baala gegen Westen zum Bergland Seir und geht hinüber nach dem nördlichen Bergrücken Jearim, das ist Kesalon, und kommt herab nach Beth-Schemesch und geht nach Timna;11sodann läuft die Grenze weiter nördlich bis zum Bergrücken von Ekron und neigt sich nach Sikron und geht über den Berg Baala und gelangt nach Jabneel, sodass das Meer das Ende dieser Grenze bildet.12Und die Westgrenze ist das große Meer und seine Küste. Das ist die Grenze der Söhne Judas, nach ihren Geschlechtern, ringsum.13Und Kaleb, dem Sohn des Jephunne, gab er ein Teil unter den Söhnen Judas nach dem Befehl des HERRN an Josua, nämlich die Stadt Arbas, des Vaters Enaks, das ist Hebron.14Und Kaleb vertrieb von dort die drei Söhne Enaks, Scheschai, Achiman und Talmai, die Enakskinder,15und er zog von dort hinauf zu den Einwohnern von Debir. Debir aber hieß zuvor Kirjat-Sepher.16Und Kaleb sprach: Wer Kirjat-Sepher schlägt und erobert, dem will ich meine Tochter Achsa zur Frau geben!17Da eroberte es Otniel, der Sohn des Kenas, des Bruders Kalebs; und er gab ihm seine Tochter Achsa zur Frau.18Und es geschah, als sie einzog,* da spornte sie ihn an, von ihrem Vater einen Acker zu erbitten. Und sie sprang vom Esel. Da sprach Kaleb zu ihr: Was willst du?19Sie sprach: Gib mir einen Segen! Denn du hast mir ein Südland gegeben; so gib mir auch Wasserquellen! Da gab er ihr die oberen Wasserquellen und die unteren Wasserquellen.20Das ist das Erbteil des Stammes der Söhne Judas nach ihren Geschlechtern.21Und die äußersten Städte des Stammes der Söhne Judas, gegen die Grenze der Edomiter im Süden, waren diese: Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,22Kina, Dimona, Adada,23Kedesch, Hazor, Jitnan,24Siph, Telem, Bealot,25Hazor-Hadatta, Keriot-Hezron, welches Hazor ist,26Amam, Sema, Molada,27Hazar-Gadda, Hesmon, Beth-Pelet,28Hazar-Schual, Beerscheba, Bisjot-Ja,29Baala, Ijim, Ezem,30El-Tolad, Kesil, Horma,31Ziklag, Madmanna, Sansanna,32Lebaot, Silhim, Ain und Rimmon. Das sind 9 Städte und ihre Dörfer.45Ekron mit seinen Tochterstädten und Dörfern.46Von Ekron und bis an das Meer alles, was an Asdod grenzt und ihre Dörfer:47Asdod mit seinen Tochterstädten und Dörfern, Gaza mit seinen Tochterstädten und Dörfern, bis an den Bach Ägyptens, und das große Meer und die Küste.48Im Bergland aber waren Schamir, Jattir, Socho,49Danna, Kirjat-Sanna, das ist Debir,50Anab, Estemo, Anim,51Gosen, Holon, Gilo. Das sind 11 Städte und ihre Dörfer.52Arab, Duma, Esean,53Janum, Beth-Tappuach, Apheka,54Humta, Kirjat-Arba, das ist Hebron, Zior. Das sind 9 Städte und ihre Dörfer.55Maon, Karmel, Siph, Juta,56Jesreel, Jokdeam, Sanoach,57Kain, Gibea, Timna. So blieben die Jebusiter mit den Söhnen Judas in Jerusalem wohnen bis zu diesem Tag.

Land is given to Judah
1Land was given to the tribe of Judah, according to its family groups. It reached down to the territory of Edom. It went as far south as the Desert of Zin.2Judah’s border on the south started from the bay at the south end of the Dead Sea.3It went across to the south of Scorpion Pass. It continued on to Zin. It went over to the south of Kadesh Barnea. Then it ran past Hezron up to Addar. It curved around to Karka.4It then went along to Azmon. There it joined the Wadi of Egypt and ended at the Mediterranean Sea. That was the southern border of Judah.5The border on the east was the Dead Sea. It went north all the way to where the River Jordan enters the sea. The border on the north started at the bay of the Dead Sea. That’s where the River Jordan enters the sea.6From there it went up to Beth Hoglah. It continued north of Beth Arabah to the Stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben.7Then it went from the Valley of Achor up to Debir. It turned north to Gilgal. Gilgal faces the Pass of Adummim south of the valley. The border continued along to the springs of En Shemesh. It came to an end at En Rogel.8Then it ran up the Valley of Ben Hinnom. It went along the south slope of Jerusalem. From there it climbed to the top of the hill west of the Hinnom Valley. The hill is also at the north end of the Valley of Rephaim.9From the top of the hill the border headed towards the springs of Nephtoah. It went to the towns near Mount Ephron. It went down towards Kiriath Jearim.10Then it curved west from Kiriath Jearim to Mount Seir. It ran along the north slope of Mount Kesalon. It continued down to Beth Shemesh and crossed over to Timnah.11It went to the north slope of Ekron. Then it turned towards Shikkeron. It passed along to Mount Baalah and reached Jabneel. The border came to an end at the Mediterranean Sea.12The border on the west was the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea. Those were the borders of the family groups of the tribe of Judah.13Joshua gave a part of Judah’s share of land to Caleb, the son of Jephunneh. That was according to the LORD’s command to Joshua. The share Caleb received was the city of Hebron. It was also called Kiriath Arba. Anak came from the family line of Arba.14Caleb drove three Anakites out of Hebron. Their names were Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai. They were from the family line of Anak.15From Hebron, Caleb marched out against the people living in Debir. It used to be called Kiriath Sepher.16Caleb said, ‘I will give my daughter Aksah to be married. She’ll be the wife of the man who attacks and captures Kiriath Sepher.’17Othniel captured it. So Caleb gave his daughter Aksah to him to be his wife. Othniel was the son of Kenaz. He was Caleb’s brother.18One day Aksah came to Othniel. She begged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb spoke to her. He asked, ‘What can I do for you?’19She replied, ‘Do me a special favour. You have given me some land in the Negev Desert. Give me springs of water also.’ So Caleb gave her the upper and lower springs.20Here is the share of land given to the tribe of Judah, according to its family groups.21The towns farthest south that were given to Judah were in the Negev Desert. They were near the border of Edom. Here is a list of those towns. Kabzeel, Eder, Jagur,22Kinah, Dimonah, Adadah,23Kedesh, Hazor, Ithnan,24Ziph, Telem, Bealoth,25Hazor Hadattah, Hazor,26Amam, Shema, Moladah,27Hazar Gaddah, Heshmon, Beth Pelet,28Hazar Shual, Beersheba, Biziothiah,29Baalah, Iyim, Ezem,30Eltolad, Kesil, Hormah,31Ziklag, Madmannah, Sansannah,32Lebaoth, Shilhim, Ain and Rimmon. The total number of towns was 29. Some of them had villages near them.33Towns were also given to Judah in the western hills. Here is a list of those towns. Eshtaol, Zorah, Ashnah,34Zanoah, En Gannim, Tappuah, Enam,35Jarmuth, Adullam, Sokoh, Azekah,36Shaaraim, Adithaim and Gederah. Gederah is also called Gederothaim. The total number of towns was 14.
