Davids Wunsch, dem Herrn einen Tempel zu bauen. Gottes Verheißung für David und sein Königtum
1Und es geschah, als der König in seinem Haus wohnte und der HERR ihm Ruhe gegeben hatte vor allen seinen Feinden ringsumher,2da sprach der König zu dem Propheten Nathan: Siehe doch, ich wohne in einem Haus aus Zedernholz, aber die Lade Gottes wohnt unter Teppichen!3Und Nathan sprach zum König: Geh hin und tue alles, was dir am Herzen liegt, denn der HERR ist mit dir!4Aber es geschah in derselben Nacht, da erging das Wort des HERRN an Nathan so:5Geh hin und rede zu meinem Knecht, zu David: So spricht der HERR: Solltest du mir ein Haus bauen, dass ich darin wohne?6Denn ich habe in keinem Haus gewohnt von dem Tag an, als ich die Kinder Israels aus Ägypten heraufführte, bis zu diesem Tag, sondern ich bin stets in einem Zelt und in einer Wohnung* umhergezogen!7Wo ich auch immer umherzog mit allen Kindern Israels, habe ich auch jemals ein Wort geredet zu einem der Stammeshäupter Israels, denen ich gebot, mein Volk Israel zu weiden, und gesagt: Warum baut ihr mir kein Haus aus Zedernholz?8So sprich nun zu meinem Knecht David: So spricht der HERR der Heerscharen: Ich habe dich von der Weide hinter den Schafen weggenommen, damit du Fürst würdest über mein Volk, über Israel;9und ich bin überall mit dir gewesen, wohin du gegangen bist, und habe alle deine Feinde vor dir her ausgerottet und dir einen großen Namen gemacht, gleich dem Namen der Gewaltigen auf Erden.10Und ich werde für mein Volk Israel einen Ort bereiten und werde es einpflanzen, dass es dort bleiben und nicht mehr beunruhigt werden soll; und die Söhne der Bosheit sollen es nicht mehr bedrängen wie zuvor,11seit der Zeit, als ich Richter über mein Volk Israel eingesetzt habe. Und ich habe dir vor allen deinen Feinden Ruhe verschafft; so verkündigt dir nun der HERR, dass der HERR dir ein Haus bauen wird!12Wenn deine Tage erfüllt sind und du bei deinen Vätern liegst, so will ich deinen Samen nach dir erwecken, der aus deinem Leib kommen wird, und ich werde sein Königtum befestigen.13Der wird meinem Namen ein Haus bauen, und ich werde den Thron seines Königreichs auf ewig befestigen.14Ich will sein Vater sein, und er soll mein Sohn sein. Wenn er eine Missetat begeht, will ich ihn mit Menschenruten züchtigen und mit Schlägen der Menschenkinder strafen.15Aber meine Gnade soll nicht von ihm weichen, wie ich sie von Saul weichen ließ, den ich vor dir beseitigt habe;16sondern dein Haus und dein Königreich sollen ewig Bestand haben vor deinem Angesicht; dein Thron soll auf ewig fest stehen!
Davids Dankgebet
17Alle diese Worte und diese ganze Offenbarung teilte Nathan dem David mit.18Da kam der König David und setzte sich vor dem HERRN nieder und sprach: Wer bin ich, HERR, du [mein] Herr, und was ist mein Haus, dass du mich bis hierher gebracht hast?19Und das war noch zu wenig in deinen Augen, HERR, du [mein] Herr; sondern du hast über das Haus deines Knechtes noch von ferner Zukunft geredet, und zwar, HERR, [mein] Herr, als Weisung für den Menschen!20Was kann da David weiter zu dir sagen? Du kennst ja deinen Knecht, HERR, du [mein] Herr!21Um deines Wortes willen und nach deinem Herzen hast du all dies Große getan, um es deinem Knecht zu verkünden!22Darum bist du, HERR Gott, auch so hoch erhaben; denn dir ist niemand gleich, und es gibt keinen Gott außer dir, nach allem, was wir mit unseren Ohren gehört haben!23Und wer ist wie dein Volk, wie Israel, die einzige Nation auf Erden, um derentwillen Gott hingegangen ist, sie als Volk für sich zu erlösen und sich einen Namen zu machen und so großartige und furchtgebietende Taten für dein Land zu tun vor dem Angesicht deines Volkes, das du dir aus Ägypten, [von] den Heidenvölkern und ihren Göttern erlöst hast?24Und du hast dir dein Volk Israel fest gegründet, damit es auf ewig dein Volk sei; und du, o HERR, bist ihr Gott geworden!25So erfülle nun, HERR Gott, auf ewig das Wort, das du über deinen Knecht und über sein Haus geredet hast, und tue, wie du geredet hast,26damit man ewiglich deinen Namen erhebe und sage: Der HERR der Heerscharen ist Gott über Israel! Und das Haus deines Knechtes David möge vor dir Bestand haben!27Denn du, HERR der Heerscharen, du Gott Israels, hast dem Ohr deines Knechts geoffenbart und gesagt: Ich will dir ein Haus bauen! Darum hat dein Knecht den Mut gefunden, dieses Gebet zu dir zu beten.28Und nun, HERR, [mein] Herr, du bist Gott, und deine Worte sind Wahrheit, und du hast deinem Knecht so viel Gutes zugesagt.29So lasse es dir nun wohlgefällig sein, das Haus deines Knechtes zu segnen, dass es ewiglich vor dir sei; denn du selbst, HERR, [mein] Herr, hast es gesagt. So möchte denn das Haus deines Knechtes mit deinem Segen gesegnet werden ewiglich!

1And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;2That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.3And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.4And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,5Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?6Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.7In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?8Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:9And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.10Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,11And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.12And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.13He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.14I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:15But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.16And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.17According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.18Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?19And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant' house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?20And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.21For thy word' sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them .22Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.23And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?24For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.25And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.26And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.27For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.28And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:29Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it : and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
