1 Dem Vorsänger. Von den Söhnen Korahs. Auf Alamoth. Ein Lied.

2 Gott ist unsere Zuflucht und Stärke, ein Helfer, bewährt in Nöten.

3 Darum fürchten wir uns nicht, wenn auch die Erde umgekehrt wird und die Berge mitten ins Meer sinken,

4 wenn auch seine Wasser wüten und schäumen und die Berge zittern vor seinem Ungestüm. (Sela.)

5 Ein Strom mit seinen Bächen erfreut die Stadt Gottes, das Heiligtum der Wohnungen des Höchsten.

6 Gott ist in ihrer Mitte, sie wird nicht wanken; Gott wird ihr helfen, wenn der Morgen anbricht.

7 Die Völker toben, die Königreiche wanken; wenn Er seine Stimme erschallen lässt, dann zerschmilzt die Erde.

8 Der HERR der Heerscharen ist mit uns; der Gott Jakobs ist unsere sichere Burg! (Sela.)

9 Kommt her, schaut die Werke des HERRN, der Verwüstungen angerichtet hat auf Erden,

10 der den Kriegen ein Ende macht bis ans Ende der Erde, der den Bogen zerbricht, den Speer zerschlägt und die Wagen mit Feuer verbrennt!

11 »Seid still und erkennt, dass ich Gott bin; ich werde erhaben sein unter den Völkern, ich werde erhaben sein auf der Erde!«

12 Der HERR der Heerscharen ist mit uns, der Gott Jakobs ist unsere sichere Burg! (Sela.)

God Is Our Fortress

1 To the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth.* A Song. God is our refuge and strength, a very present* help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.

6 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, how he has brought desolations on the earth.

9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire.

10 “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.
