Die Überführung der Bundeslade nach Jerusalem

1 Und David versammelte nochmals alle auserwählten Männer in Israel, 30 000. 2 Und David machte sich auf mit dem ganzen Volk, das bei ihm war, von Baale-Juda, um von dort die Lade Gottes heraufzuholen, bei welcher der Name angerufen wird, der Name des HERRN der Heerscharen, der über den Cherubim thront. 3 Und sie setzten die Lade Gottes auf einen neuen Wagen und holten sie aus dem Haus Abinadabs, das auf dem Hügel war. Ussa aber und Achio, die Söhne Abinadabs, lenkten den neuen Wagen. 4 Und sie führten sie aus dem Haus Abinadabs weg, das auf dem Hügel war, [und begleiteten] die Lade Gottes; Achio aber ging vor der Lade her. 5 Und David und das ganze Haus Israel spielten vor dem HERRN mit allerlei [Instrumenten aus] Zypressenholz, mit Zithern und mit Harfen, mit Tamburinen und mit Schellen und mit Zimbeln. 6 Und als sie zur Tenne Nachons kamen, griff Ussa nach der Lade Gottes und hielt sie fest; denn die Rinder waren ausgeglitten. 7 Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN gegen Ussa; und Gott schlug ihn dort wegen des Vergehens; so starb er dort bei der Lade Gottes. 8 Aber David entbrannte darüber, dass der HERR mit Ussa einen solchen Riss gemacht hatte; darum nennt man diesen Ort Perez-Ussa bis zu diesem Tag. 9 Und David fürchtete sich vor dem HERRN an jenem Tag und sprach: Wie soll die Lade des HERRN zu mir kommen? 10 Deswegen ließ David die Lade des HERRN nicht zu sich in die Stadt Davids hinaufbringen, sondern er ließ sie beiseiteführen in das Haus Obed-Edoms, des Gatiters*. 11 Und die Lade des HERRN verblieb drei Monate lang im Haus Obed-Edoms, des Gatiters, und der HERR segnete Obed-Edom und sein ganzes Haus. 12 Als nun dem König David berichtet wurde: »Der HERR hat das Haus Obed-Edoms und alles, was er hatte, gesegnet um der Lade Gottes willen!«, da ging David hin und holte die Lade Gottes mit Freuden aus dem Haus Obed-Edoms herauf in die Stadt Davids. 13 Und es geschah, wenn die Träger der Lade des HERRN sechs Schritte gegangen waren, opferte man einen Ochsen und ein fettes Schaf. 14 David aber tanzte mit aller Macht vor dem HERRN her, und David war mit einem leinenen Ephod umgürtet. 15 So führten David und das ganze Haus Israel die Lade des HERRN mit Jubelgeschrei und mit dem Schall des Schopharhorns herauf. 16 Als die Lade des HERRN gerade in die Stadt Davids kam, da schaute Michal, die Tochter Sauls, durchs Fenster und sah den König David hüpfen und vor dem HERRN tanzen, und sie verachtete ihn in ihrem Herzen. 17 Und sie brachten die Lade des HERRN hinein und stellten sie an ihren Ort, in das Zelt, das David für sie aufgeschlagen hatte. Und David opferte Brandopfer und Friedensopfer vor dem HERRN. 18 Und als David die Brandopfer und Friedensopfer vollendet hatte, segnete er das Volk im Namen des HERRN der Heerscharen. 19 Und er ließ dem ganzen Volk, der ganzen Menge Israels, Männern und Frauen, jedem einen Brotkuchen, einen Dattelkuchen und einen Rosinenkuchen austeilen. Dann ging das ganze Volk fort, jeder in sein Haus. 20 Als aber David umkehrte, um sein Haus zu segnen, da ging Michal, die Tochter Sauls, David entgegen und sprach: Welche Ehre hat sich heute der König Israels erworben, dass er sich heute vor den Augen der Mägde seiner Knechte entblößt hat, wie sich nur einer der leichtfertigen Leute entblößen kann! 21 David aber sprach zu Michal: Vor dem HERRN, der mich vor deinem Vater und vor seinem ganzen Haus erwählt und mir befohlen hat, Fürst über das Volk des HERRN, über Israel zu sein, vor dem HERRN will ich spielen. 22 Und ich will noch geringer werden als diesmal und niedrig sein in meinen Augen; und bei den Mägden, von denen du gesprochen hast, will ich mir Ehre erwerben! 23 Michal aber, die Tochter Sauls, hatte kein Kind bis zum Tag ihres Todes.

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

1 David again gathered all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. 2 And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale-judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the name of the Lord of hosts who sits enthroned on the cherubim. 3 And they carried the ark of God on a new cart and brought it out of the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. And Uzzah and Ahio,* the sons of Abinadab, were driving the new cart, 4 with the ark of God,* and Ahio went before the ark.

5 And David and all the house of Israel were celebrating before the Lord, with songs* and lyres and harps and tambourines and castanets and cymbals. 6 And when they came to the threshing floor of Nacon, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled. 7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah, and God struck him down there because of his error, and he died there beside the ark of God. 8 And David was angry because the Lord had broken out against Uzzah. And that place is called Perez-uzzah* to this day. 9 And David was afraid of the Lord that day, and he said, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?” 10 So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord into the city of David. But David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite. 11 And the ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-edom and all his household. 12 And it was told King David, “The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the city of David with rejoicing. 13 And when those who bore the ark of the Lord had gone six steps, he sacrificed an ox and a fattened animal. 14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might. And David was wearing a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the horn.

16 As the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart. 17 And they brought in the ark of the Lord and set it in its place, inside the tent that David had pitched for it. And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. 18 And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts 19 and distributed among all the people, the whole multitude of Israel, both men and women, a cake of bread, a portion of meat,* and a cake of raisins to each one. Then all the people departed, each to his house. 20 And David returned to bless his household. But Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David and said, “How the king of Israel honored himself today, uncovering himself today before the eyes of his servants’ female servants, as one of the vulgar fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!” 21 And David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me above your father and above all his house, to appoint me as prince* over Israel, the people of the Lord—and I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will make myself yet more contemptible than this, and I will be abased in your* eyes. But by the female servants of whom you have spoken, by them I shall be held in honor.” 23 And Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.
