1 Te rog fierbinte* înaintea lui Dumnezeu și a lui Cristos Isus, Care urmează să judece viii și morții, și ținând seama de venirea Lui și Împărăția* Lui: 2 predică Cuvântul, fii pregătit la momentul potrivit sau la cel nepotrivit, corectează, mustră, îndeamnă cu toată răbdarea și învățătura! 3 Căci va veni vremea când oamenii nu vor suporta învățătura sănătoasă, ci își vor îngrămădi învățători după poftele lor, ca să le gâdile auzul. 4 Își vor întoarce auzul de la adevăr și se vor duce după mituri. 5 Însă tu fii treaz în toate lucrurile, îndură suferințele, fă lucrarea unui evanghelist, împlinește‑ți slujba! 6 Căci eu sunt gata să fiu turnat ca o jertfă de băutură*, și vremea plecării mele este aproape. 7 M‑am luptat lupta cea bună, mi‑am sfârșit alergarea, am păzit credința. 8 De acum înainte îmi este păstrată coroana dreptății, pe care mi‑o va da Domnul, Judecătorul cel Drept, în ziua aceea, și nu numai mie, ci tuturor celor care vor fi iubit venirea Lui.

Să nu li se ia în considerare lucrul acesta! 17 Însă Domnul a stat lângă mine și m‑a întărit, pentru ca, prin mine, proclamarea Evangheliei să fie dusă la îndeplinire și toate neamurile s‑o audă. Și am fost scăpat din gura leului*! 18 Domnul mă va scăpa de orice lucru rău și mă va mântui pentru Împărăția Lui cerească. A Lui să fie slava, în vecii vecilor! Amin. 19 Salută‑i pe Prisca* și Akyla și pe cei din casa lui Onisifor! 20 Erastos a rămas în Corint, iar pe Trofimos l‑am lăsat bolnav în Milet. 21 Străduiește‑te să vii înainte de iarnă. 1 I give you a command in the sight of God and Christ Jesus. Christ will judge the living and the dead. Because he and his kingdom are coming, here is the command I give you. 2 Preach the word. Be ready to serve God in good times and bad. Correct people’s mistakes. Warn them. Encourage them with words of hope. Be very patient as you do these things. Teach them carefully. 3 The time will come when people won’t put up with true teaching. Instead, they will try to satisfy their own desires. They will gather a large number of teachers around them. The teachers will say what the people want to hear. 4 The people will turn their ears away from the truth. They will turn to stories that aren’t true. 5 But I want you to keep your head no matter what happens. Don’t give up when times are hard. Work to spread the good news.
