Если бы Господь был не на нашей стороне, – да скажет Израиль, –2если бы Господь был не на нашей стороне, когда напали на нас люди,3то они поглотили бы нас живьем, когда их гнев разгорелся на нас.4Тогда потопили бы нас воды, поток пронесся бы над нами;5бурные воды прошли бы над душой нашей.6Благословен Господь, Который не отдал нас добычей в их зубы.7Наша душа избавилась, как птица из сети ловца: сеть порвана, и мы избавились.8Помощь наша – в имени Господа*, сотворившего небо и землю.

Our Eyes Look to the Lord Our God
1A Song of Ascents. To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens!2Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, till he has mercy upon us.3Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us, for we have had more than enough of contempt.4Our soul has had more than enough of the scorn of those who are at ease, of the contempt of the proud.
