1The Mighty One, God, the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to where it sets.2From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.3Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.4He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that he may judge his people:5‘Gather to me this consecrated people, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.’6And the heavens proclaim his righteousness, for he is a God of justice.**7‘Listen, my people, and I will speak; I will testify against you, Israel: I am God, your God.8I bring no charges against you concerning your sacrifices or concerning your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.9I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens,10for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.11I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine.12If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.13Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats?14‘Sacrifice thank-offerings to God, fulfil your vows to the Most High,15and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honour me.’16But to the wicked person, God says: ‘What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?17You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.18When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers.19You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.20You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son.21When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly* like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.22‘Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no-one to rescue you:23those who sacrifice thank-offerings honour me, and to the blameless* I will show my salvation.’

Der Mächtige, Gott der HERR, er redet und ruft die Erde vom Aufgang der Sonne bis zu ihrem Niedergang.2Aus Zion, der Schönheit Vollendung, erscheint Gott im Lichtglanz.3Unser Gott kommt und schweigt nicht; verzehrendes Feuer geht vor ihm her, und rings um ihn stürmt es gewaltig.4Er ruft dem Himmel droben zu und der Erde, damit er sein Volk richte:5»Versammelt mir meine Getreuen, die den Bund mit mir schlossen über dem Opfer!«6Und der Himmel verkündet seine Gerechtigkeit, dass Gott selbst Richter ist. (Sela.)7»Höre, mein Volk, so will ich reden; Israel, ich lege gegen dich Zeugnis ab! Ich bin Gott, dein Gott.8Deiner Opfer wegen will ich dich nicht tadeln, sind doch deine Brandopfer stets vor mir.9Ich will keinen Stier aus deinem Haus nehmen, keine Böcke aus deinen Hürden;10denn mir gehören alle Tiere des Waldes, das Vieh auf tausend Bergen.11Ich kenne alle Vögel auf den Bergen, und was sich auf dem Feld regt, ist mir bekannt.12Wenn ich hungrig wäre, so würde ich es dir nicht sagen; denn mir gehört der Erdkreis und was ihn erfüllt.13Sollte ich etwa Stierfleisch essen oder Blut von Böcken trinken?14Opfere Gott Dank und erfülle dem Höchsten deine Gelübde;15und rufe mich an am Tag der Not, so will ich dich erretten, und du sollst mich ehren!«16Zu dem Gottlosen aber spricht Gott: »Was zählst du meine Satzungen auf und nimmst meinen Bund in deinen Mund,17da du doch Zucht hasst und meine Worte verwirfst?18Siehst du einen Dieb, so freundest du dich mit ihm an, und mit Ehebrechern hast du Gemeinschaft;19deinen Mund lässt du Böses reden, und deine Zunge knüpft Betrug.20Du sitzt da und redest gegen deinen Bruder; den Sohn deiner Mutter verleumdest du.21Das hast du getan, und ich habe geschwiegen; da meintest du, ich sei gleich wie du. Aber ich will dich zurechtweisen und es dir vor Augen stellen!22Seht doch das ein, die ihr Gott vergesst, damit ich nicht hinwegraffe, und keiner rettet!23Wer Dank opfert, der ehrt mich, und wer [seinen] Weg [recht] ausrichtet, dem zeige ich das Heil Gottes!«
