Markus 9 | New International Version

1 And he said to them, ‘Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.’

The transfiguration

2 After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. 5 Peter said to Jesus, ‘Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters – one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’ 6 (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.) 7 Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: ‘This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!’ 8 Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus. 9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10 They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what ‘rising from the dead’ meant. 11 And they asked him, ‘Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?’ 12 Jesus replied, ‘To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected? 13 But I tell you, Elijah has come, and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.’

Jesus heals a boy possessed by an impure spirit

14 When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. 15 As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him. 16 ‘What are you arguing with them about?’ he asked. 17 A man in the crowd answered, ‘Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. 18 Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.’ 19 ‘You unbelieving generation,’ Jesus replied, ‘how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.’ 20 So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. 21 Jesus asked the boy’s father, ‘How long has he been like this?’ ‘From childhood,’ he answered. 22 ‘It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.’ 23 ‘ “If you can”?’ said Jesus. ‘Everything is possible for one who believes.’ 24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, ‘I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!’ 25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. ‘You deaf and mute spirit,’ he said, ‘I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.’ 26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, ‘He’s dead.’ 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up. 28 After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, ‘Why couldn’t we drive it out?’ 29 He replied, ‘This kind can come out only by prayer.*’

Jesus predicts his death a second time

30 They left that place and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were, 31 because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, ‘The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.’ 32 But they did not understand what he meant and were afraid to ask him about it. 33 They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, ‘What were you arguing about on the road?’ 34 But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. 35 Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, ‘Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.’ 36 He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, 37 ‘Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.’

Whoever is not against us is for us

38 ‘Teacher,’ said John, ‘we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.’ 39 ‘Do not stop him,’ Jesus said. ‘For no-one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, 40 for whoever is not against us is for us. 41 Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.

Causing to stumble

42 ‘If anyone causes one of these little ones – those who believe in me – to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung round their neck and they were thrown into the sea. 43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.* 45 And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell.* 47 And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, 48 where ‘ “the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.” 49 Everyone will be salted with fire. 50 ‘Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.’

1 عيسی به شاگردان خود فرمود: «بعضی از شما كه الان در اينجا ايستادهايد، پيش از مرگ، ملكوت خدا را با تمام شكوهش خواهيد ديد.» 2 شش روز بعد، عيسی با پطرس، يعقوب و يوحنا به بالای تپهای رفت. كس ديگری در آنجا نبود. ناگاه صورت عيسی به طرز پرشكوهی شروع به درخشيدن كرد 3 و لباسش درخشان و مثل برف سفيد شد، به طوری كه هیچکس بر روی زمين نمیتواند لباسی را آنقدر سفيد بشويد. 4 آنگاه الياس و موسی ظاهر شدند و با عيسی به گفتگو پرداختند. 5 پطرس شگفتزده گفت: «استاد، چه خوب میشود اينجا بمانيم. اگر اجازه بفرماييد، سه سايبان بسازيم، برای هر يک از شما، يک سايبان…» 6 پطرس اين حرف را زد تا چيزی گفته باشد، چون نمیدانست چه بگويد و همه از ترس میلرزيدند. 7 اما در همان حال، ابری بالای سرشان سايه افكند و ندايی از آن در رسيد كه«اين فرزند عزيز من است؛ سخنان او را بشنويد!» 8 ايشان بلافاصله به اطراف نگاه كردند، ولی جز عيسی كس ديگری را نديدند. 9 هنگامی كه از كوه پايين میآمدند، عيسی به ايشان فرمود تا پيش از زنده شدنش، دربارهٔ آنچه ديدند به كسی چيزی نگويند. 10 ايشان نيز اطاعت نمودند، ولی اغلب دربارهٔ آن ماجرا با يكديگر گفتگو میكردند و در اين فكر بودند كه منظور عيسی از«زنده شدن» چه بوده است. 11 يكبار از عيسی پرسيدند: «چرا روحانیون يهود میگويند اول بايد الياس پيامبر بيايد، و بعد مسيح؟» 12 عيسی پاسخ داد: «درست است، اول بايد الياس بيايد و راه را آماده كند. ولی در مورد خود مسيح، در كتاب آسمانی چه نوشته شده است؟ نوشته شده كه او عذاب خواهد كشيد، و با خفت و خواری با او رفتار خواهند كرد. 13 اما دربارهٔ الياس بايد بگويم كه او آمد و همانطور كه پيامبران از پيش گفته بودند، با او بسيار بدرفتاری شد.»

شفای يک پسر غشی

14 وقتی به پای كوه رسيدند، ديدند كه عدهٔ زيادی دور آن نُه شاگرد ديگر جمع شدهاند و چند نفر از سران قوم يهود نيز با ايشان بحث و گفتگو میكنند. 15 همانطور كه عيسی نزديک میشد، مردم با احترام خاصی به او چشم دوخته بودند؛ سپس پيش رفتند و سلام كردند. 16 عيسی پرسيد: «دربارهٔ چه بحث میكنيد؟» 17 مردی از آن ميان جواب داد: «استاد، پسرم را به اينجا آوردم تا او را شفا دهيد. او نمیتواند حرف بزند چون اسير يک روح ناپاک است. 18 هرگاه روح ناپاک پسرم را بگيرد، او را بر زمين میكوبد و دهانش كف میكند و دندانهايش به هم میخورد و بدنش مثل چوب خشک میشود. از شاگردان شما خواهش كردم روح ناپاک را از او بيرون كنند، ولی نتوانستند.» 19 عيسی فرمود: «ای قوم بیايمان، تا كی با شما باشم تا ايمان بياوريد؟ تا كی بايد با شما باشم و اين وضع را تحمل كنم؟ پسر را نزد من بياوريد.» 20 پس او را آوردند؛ اما به محض اينكه چشمش به عيسی افتاد، روح ناپاک او را تكان سختی داد و بر زمين زد. پسر میغلتيد و دهانش كف میكرد. 21 عيسی از پدر او پرسيد: «از كی چنين شده است؟» جواب داد: «از وقتی كه طفل كوچكی بود. 22 روح ناپاک بارها او را در آب و آتش انداخته تا نابودش كند. به ما رحم كن و اگر میتوانی او را شفا بده.» 23 عيسی فرمود: «اگر میتوانم؟ اگر ايمان داشته باشی همه چيز برايت امكان خواهد داشت.» 24 پدر فوری با صدای بلند جواب داد: «بلی، ايمان دارم. كمک كنيد تا ايمانم بيشتر شود.» 25 چون عيسی ديد جمعيت زيادتر میشود، به روح ناپاک دستور داد: «ای روح كر و لال، به تو میگويم از اين پسر بيرون برو و ديگر داخل او نشو!» 26 روح ناپاک نعرهای زد و بار ديگر پسر را تكان داد و از او خارج شد. پسر غش كرد و مانند مرده بیحركت بر زمين افتاد. مردم به يكديگر گفتند: «مُرد!» 27 اما عيسی دست او را گرفت و بلند كرد. پسر، صحيح و سالم بر پاهای خود ايستاد. 28 بعداً وقتی شاگردان در خانه با عيسی تنها بودند، از او پرسيدند: «چرا ما نتوانستيم روح ناپاک را بيرون كنيم؟» 29 عيسی فرمود: «اين نوع روح ناپاک جز با دعا بيرون نمیرود.»

عيسی بار ديگر مرگ خود را پيشگويی میکند

30 عيسی از آنجا به جليل رفت و سعی كرد از نظر مردم دور بماند، 31 تا بتواند وقت بيشتری را با شاگردانش صرف كند و ايشان را تعليم دهد. او به ايشان میگفت: «به من كه مسيح هستم، خيانت خواهد شد و مرا خواهند كشت. اما بعد از سه روز زنده خواهم شد.» 32 ولی منظور او را نفهميدند و میترسيدند بپرسند.

بزرگی در چيست؟

33 سپس به كَفَرناحوم رسيدند. وقتی به خانهای وارد شدند كه بنا بود در آنجا بمانند، عيسی از ايشان پرسيد: «در بين راه با هم چه میگفتيد؟» 34 ايشان خجالت میكشيدند جواب دهند، زيرا در بين راه بحث و گفتگو میكردند كه چه كسی از همه بزرگتر است. 35 پس عيسی نشست و آنها را دور خود جمع كرد و گفت: «هر كه میخواهد از همه بزرگتر باشد، بايد كوچكتر از همه و خدمتگزار همه باشد.» 36 سپس كودكی را به ميان آورد و او را در آغوش گرفت و گفت: 37 «هر كه به خاطر من خدمتی به اين كودک بكند، در واقع به من خدمت كرده است؛ و هر كه به من خدمت كند، به پدرم كه مرا فرستاده خدمت كرده است.»

قدرت نام عيسی

38 روزی يكی از شاگردان او به نام يوحنا، به او گفت: «استاد، مردی را ديديم كه به نام شما ارواح ناپاک را از مردم بيرون میكرد؛ ولی ما به او گفتيم كه اين كار را نكند چون او جزو دستهٔ ما نبود.» 39 عيسی فرمود: «نه، اين كار را نكنيد، چون كسی كه به اسم من معجزهای میكند، مخالف من نيست. 40 كسی كه به ضد ما نيست، با ما است. 41 اگر كسی به شما حتی يک ليوان آب بدهد، فقط به خاطر اينكه شاگرد من هستيد، حتماً خدا به او پاداش و بركت خواهد داد. 42 ولی اگر كسی باعث شود يكی از اين كودكان كه به من ايمان دارند، ايمانش را از دست بدهد، برای او بهتر است يک سنگ بزرگ دور گردنش آويخته و به دريا انداخته شود. 43 «اگر از دستت خطايی سر میزند، آن را بِبُر؛ چون بهتر است يک دست داشته باشی و تا ابد زنده بمانی تا اينكه دو دست داشته باشی و در آتش بیامان جهنم بيفتی. 45 اگر پايت تو را به سوی بدی میكشاند، آن را ببر؛ چون بهتر است يک پا داشته باشی و تا ابد زنده بمانی تا اينكه دو پا داشته باشی و در جهنم به سر ببری. 47 «اگر چشمت گناه كند، آن را درآور؛ چون بهتر است يک چشم داشته باشی و وارد ملكوت خدا شوی تا اينكه دو چشم داشته باشی و آتش جهنم را ببينی، 48 جايی كه كرمهای بدنخوار هرگز نمیميرند و آتش، هيچگاه خاموش نمیشود. 49 «هر کس بايد برای خدا همچون قربانی باشد كه با آتش رنجها و زحمات پاک میشود، همانطور كه يک قربانی با نمک پاک میشود. 50 «نمک خوب است ولی اگر طعم خود را از دست بدهد، ديگر ارزشی ندارد و به هيچ غذايی طعم نمیدهد. پس شما نيز طعم خود را از دست ندهيد. با هم در صلح و صفا زندگی كنيد.»
