1After this, Jesus travelled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him,2and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out;3Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.4While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable:5‘A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up.6Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture.7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants.8Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.’ When he said this, he called out, ‘Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.’9His disciples asked him what this parable meant.10He said, ‘The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, ‘ “though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.”11‘This is the meaning of the parable: the seed is the word of God.12Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.13Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.14The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.15But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
A lamp on a stand
16‘No-one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.17For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.18Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.’
Jesus’ mother and brothers
19Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd.20Someone told him, ‘Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.’21He replied, ‘My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.’
Jesus calms the storm
22One day Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Let us go over to the other side of the lake.’ So they got into a boat and set out.23As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.24The disciples went and woke him, saying, ‘Master, Master, we’re going to drown!’ He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.25‘Where is your faith?’ he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, ‘Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.’
Jesus restores a demon-possessed man
26They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes,* which is across the lake from Galilee.27When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs.28When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, ‘What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!’29For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.30Jesus asked him, ‘What is your name?’ ‘Legion,’ he replied, because many demons had gone into him.31And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss.32A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission.33When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.34When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside,35and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.36Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured.37Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left.38The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,39‘Return home and tell how much God has done for you.’ So the man went away and told all over the town how much Jesus had done for him.
Jesus raises a dead girl and heals a sick woman
40Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him.41Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house42because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying. As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him.43And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years,* but no-one could heal her.44She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.45‘Who touched me?’ Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, ‘Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.’46But Jesus said, ‘Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.’47Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.48Then he said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.’49While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. ‘Your daughter is dead,’ he said. ‘Don’t bother the teacher anymore.’50Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.’51When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.52Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. ‘Stop wailing,’ Jesus said. ‘She is not dead but asleep.’53They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.54But he took her by the hand and said, ‘My child, get up!’55Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.56Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.

1چندی بعد، عيسی سفری به شهرها و دهات ايالت جليل كرد تا همه جا مژده ملكوت خدا را اعلام كند. آن دوازده شاگرد2و چند زن كه از ارواح پليد و يا از امراض شفا يافته بودند نيز او را همراهی میكردند. مريم مجدليه كه عيسی هفت روح پليد از وجود او بيرون كرده بود،3يونا، همسر خوزا (رئيس دربار هيروديس)، و سوسن از جمله اين زنان بودند. ايشان و بسياری از زنان ديگر، از دارايی شخصی خود، عيسی و شاگردانش را خدمت میكردند.
تأثير كلام خدا بر قلبهای مردم
4مردم از همه شهرها نزد عيسی میآمدند. يک روز، عدهٔ زيادی نزدش گرد آمدند و او اين حكايت را برای ايشان بيان نمود:5«روزی كشاورزی به مزرعه رفت تا تخم بكارد. وقتی تخمها را میپاشيد، مقداری روی گذرگاه افتاد و پايمال شد و پرندگان آمده، آنها را برچيدند و خوردند.6مقداری ديگر در زمين سنگلاخ و كم خاک افتاد و سبز شد، اما چون زمين رطوبت نداشت، زود پژمرد و خشكيد.7مقداری هم در ميان خارها افتاد. خارها با تخمها رشد كرد و ساقههای جوان گياه، زير فشار خارها خفه شد.8اما مقداری از تخمها در زمين بارور افتاد و روييد و صد برابر ثمر داد.» سپس با صدای بلند فرمود: «هر كه گوش شنوا دارد، خوب به سخنان من توجه كند!»9شاگردان پرسيدند: «معنی اين حكايت چيست؟»10فرمود: «خدا به شما اين توانايی را داده است كه معنی اين حكايات را درک كنيد، چون حقايق ناگفتهای را درباره برقراری ملكوت خدا بر روی زمين، بيان میكند. اما اين مردم، سخنان مرا میشنوند و چيزی از آن درک نمیكنند، و اين درست همان چيزی است كه انبيای قديم پيشگويی كردهاند.11«معنی حكايت اينست: تخم، همان كلام خداست.12گذرگاه مزرعه كه بعضی از تخمها در آنجا افتاد، دل سخت كسانی را نشان میدهد كه كلام خدا را میشنوند، اما بعد شيطان آمده، كلام را میربايد و میبرد و نمیگذارد ايمان بياورند و نجات پيدا كنند،13زمين سنگلاخ، نمايانگر كسانی است كه از گوش دادن به كلام خدا لذت میبرند ولی در ايشان هرگز تأثيری عميق نمینمايد و ريشه نمیدواند. آنان میدانند كه كلام خدا حقيقت دارد و تا مدتی هم ايمان میآورند. اما وقتی باد سوزان شكنجه و آزار وزيد، ايمان خود را از دست میدهند.14زمينی كه از خار پوشيده شده، به كسانی اشاره دارد كه به پيغام خدا گوش میدهند و ايمان میآورند ولی ايمانشان در زير فشار نگرانی، ماديات و مسئوليتها و لذات زندگی، كمكم خفه میشود و ثمری به بار نمیآورد.15«اما خاک خوب، نمايانگر اشخاصی است كه با قلبی آماده و پذيرا به كلام خدا گوش میدهند و با جديت از آن اطاعت میكنند تا ثمر به بار آورند.
اطاعت از پيغام خدا
16«آيا تا به حال شنيدهايد كه كسی چراغی را روشن كند و بعد روی آن را بپوشاند تا نورش به ديگران نتابد؟ چراغ را بايد جايی گذاشت كه همه بتوانند از نورش استفاده كنند.17به همين صورت، خدا نيز يک روز اسرار نهان و مخفی دل انسان را پيش چشمان همه، عيان و آشكار خواهد ساخت.18پس سعی كنيد كه به پيغام خدا خوب گوش فرا دهيد. چون هر كه دارد، به او بيشتر داده خواهد شد، و هر كه ندارد، آنچه گمان میكند دارد نيز از او گرفته خواهد شد.»
خانواده واقعی عيسی
19يكبار، مادر و برادران عيسی آمدند تا او را ببينند، اما به علت ازدحام جمعيت نتوانستند وارد خانهای شوند كه در آن تعليم میداد.20وقتی به عيسی خبر دادند كه مادر و برادرانش بيرون ايستاده و منتظر ديدنش هستند،21فرمود: «مادر و برادران من كسانی هستند كه پيغام خدا را میشنوند و آن را اطاعت میكنند.»
عيسی دريای طوفانی را آرام میكند
22روزی عيسی با شاگردانش سوار قايقی شد و از ايشان خواست كه آن را به كناره ديگر درياچه ببرند.23در بين راه، عيسی را خواب در ربود. ناگهان طوفان سختی درگرفت، طوری كه آب قايق را پر كرد و جانشان به خطر افتاد.24شاگردان با عجله عيسی را بيدار كردند و فرياد زدند: «استاد، استاد، نزديک است غرق شويم!» عيسی برخاست و به طوفان دستور داد: «آرام شو!» آنگاه باد و امواج فروكش كرد و همه جا آرامش حكمفرما گرديد!25سپس از ايشان پرسيد: «ايمانتان كجاست؟» ايشان با ترس و تعجب به يكديگر گفتند: «اين مرد كيست كه حتی باد و امواج دريا نيز از او فرمان میبرند؟»
عيسی ديوانهای را شفا میبخشد
26به اين ترتيب به آن سوس درياچه، به سرزمين جدریها رسيدند كه مقابل ايالت جليل بود.27وقتی عيسی از قايق پياده شد، مردی كه مدتها ديوانه بود از شهر به سوی او آمد. او نه لباس میپوشيد و نه در خانه میماند بلكه در قبرستانها زندگی میكرد.28به محض اينكه عيسی را ديد، نعره زد و پيش پايهای او بر زمين افتاد و با صدای بلند گفت: «ای عيسی، فرزند خدای متعال، با من چه كار داری؟ التماس میكنم مرا عذاب ندهی!»29زيرا عيسی به روح پليد دستور میداد كه از وجود آن مرد بيرون بيايد. اين روح پليد بارها به آن مرد حمله كرده بود و حتی موقعی كه دستها و پايهای او را با زنجير میبستند، به آسانی زنجيرها را میگسيخت و سر به بيابان میگذاشت. او به طور كامل در چنگال ارواح پليد اسير بود.30عيسی از آن روح پرسيد: «اسم تو چيست؟» گفت: «قشون»، زيرا هزاران روح در وجود آن مرد داخل شده بودند.31سپس ارواح پليد به عيسی التماس كردند كه آنها را به جهنم نفرستد.32در اين هنگام، يک گلهٔ بزرگ خوک، روی تپهای در آن حوالی میچريد. ارواح به عيسی التماس كردند كه اجازه دهد داخل خوكها گردند. عيسی اجازه داد.33آنگاه ارواح پليد از وجود آن مرد بيرون آمدند و داخل خوكها شدند. بلافاصله تمام آن گله از تپه سرازير شده، از پرتگاه به داخل درياچه پريدند و غرق شدند.34خوکچرانها پا به فرار گذاشتند و به هر جا كه میرسيدند، ماجرا را برای مردم بازگو میكردند.35طولی نكشيد كه مردم دستهدسته آمدند تا واقعه را به چشم ببينند. وقتی آن ديوانه را ديدند كه لباس بر تن داشت و پيش پای عيسی آرام نشسته و كاملاً عاقل شده است، وحشت كردند.36كسانی كه اين ماجرا را ديده بودند، برای ديگران تعريف میكردند كه آن ديوانه چگونه شفا يافته است.37مردم كه از اين واقعه دچار وحشت شده بودند، از عيسی خواهش كردند كه از آنجا برود و ديگر كاری به كارشان نداشته باشد. پس او سوار قايق شد تا به كناره ديگر درياچه بازگردد.38ديوانهای كه شفا يافته بود، به عيسی التماس كرد كه اجازه دهد او را همراهی كند. اما عيسی اجازه نداد و به او فرمود:39«نزد خانوادهات برگرد و بگو كه خدا چه كار بزرگی برايت انجام داده است.» او نيز به شهر رفت و برای همه بازگو نمود كه عيسی چه معجزه بزرگی در حق او انجام داده است.
شفای زن بيمار و زنده كردن دختر يايروس
40هنگامی كه عيسی به كناره ديگر درياچه بازگشت، مردم با آغوش باز از او استقبال كردند، چون منتظرش بودند.41ناگهان مردی به نام يايروس كه سرپرست عبادتگاه شهر بود، آمد و بر پايهای عيسی افتاد و به او التماس كرد كه همراه او به خانهاش برود،42و دختر دوازده سالهاش را كه تنها فرزندش بود و در آستانه مرگ قرار داشت، شفا دهد. عيسی خواهش او را پذيرفت و در ميان انبوه جمعيت، با او به راه افتاد. مردم از هر طرف دور او را گرفته بودند و بر او فشار میآوردند.43در همين حال، زنی از پشت سر عيسی خود را به او رسانيد و به گوشهٔ ردای او دست زد. اين زن به مدت دوازده سال به خونريزی مبتلا بود و با اينكه تمام دارايی خود را صرف معالجه خود نموده بود، بهبودی نيافته بود. اما به محض اينكه دستش به گوشه ردای عيسی رسيد، خونريزیاش قطع شد.45عيسی ناگهان برگشت و پرسيد: «چه كسی به من دست زد؟» همه انكار كردند. پطرس گفت: «استاد، میبينيد كه مردم از هر طرف فشار میآورند…»46اما عيسی فرمود: «يک نفر به من دست زد، چون حس كردم كه نيروی شفابخشی از من صادر شد!»47آن زن كه ديد عيسی از همه چيز آگاهی دارد، با ترس و لرز آمد و در برابر او به زانو افتاد. آنگاه در حضور همه بيان كرد كه به چه علت به او دست زده و چگونه شفا يافته است.48عيسی فرمود: «دخترم، ايمانت باعث شفايت شده است. برخيز و با خيالی آسوده، برو!»49عيسی هنوز با آن زن سخن میگفت كه شخصی از خانه يايروس آمد و به او خبر داده گفت: «دخترت فوت كرد. ديگر بيهوده به استاد زحمت نده.»50اما وقتی عيسی اين را شنيد، به يايروس فرمود: «نترس! فقط به من اعتماد داشته باش! دخترت شفا خواهد يافت!»51هنگامی كه به خانه رسيدند، عيسی اجازه نداد كه به غیر از پطرس، يعقوب، يوحنا و پدر و مادر آن دختر، كسی با او وارد اتاق شود.52در آن خانه عده زيادی جمع شده و گريه و زاری میكردند. عيسی به ايشان فرمود: «گريه نكنيد! دختر نمرده؛ فقط خوابيده است!»53همه او را مسخره كردند، چون میدانستند كه دختر مرده است.54آنگاه عيسی وارد اتاق شد و دست دختر را گرفت و فرمود: «دختر، برخيز!»55همان لحظه، او زنده شد و فوراً از جا برخاست! عيسی فرمود: «چيزی به او بدهيد تا بخورد.»56پدر و مادر او از فرط شادی نمیدانستند چه كنند؛ اما عيسی اصرار كرد كه جزئيات ماجرا را برای كسی فاش ننمايند.
