1‘Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labour; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,’ says the Lord.2‘Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.3For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.4‘Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.5For your Maker is your husband – the Lord Almighty is his name – the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.6The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit – a wife who married young, only to be rejected,’ says your God.7‘For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back.8In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,’ says the Lord your Redeemer.9‘To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.10Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.11‘Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise,* your foundations with lapis lazuli.12I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.13All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.14In righteousness you will be established: tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you.15If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you.16‘See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;17no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. 1ای اورشليم، ای زن بیاولاد، شاد باش و سرود بخوان، زيرا فرزندان تو زيادتر از فرزندان زنی خواهند شد كه شوهرش او را ترک نگفته باشد!2خيمهای را كه در آن زندگی میكنی وسيعتر كن و پردههای آن را پهنتر ساز، طنابهايش را دراز كن و ميخهايش را محكم ساز؛3زيرا بزودی جمعيت تو زياد خواهد شد. فرزندانت نزد تو باز خواهند گشت و اين سرزمين را كه به دست بيگانگان افتاده، تصاحب خواهند كرد و شهرهای ويران را دوباره آباد خواهند ساخت.4نترس و نگران نباش، زيرا ديگر رسوا و خوار نخواهی شد. خيانتی را كه در جوانيت مرتكب شدهای به ياد نخواهی آورد و تنهايی زمان بيوگیات را فراموش خواهی كرد؛5زيرا آفرينندهٔ تو كه نامش خداوند قادر متعال است، شوهر تو خواهد بود. خدای مقدس اسرائيل كه خدای تمام جهان است، نجات دهندهٔ تو خواهد بود.6ای اسرائيل، تو مانند زن جوان رنجديدهای هستی كه شوهرش او را ترک گفته باشد. اما خداوند تو را دوباره نزد خود میخواند و میگويد:7«برای اندک مدتی تو را ترک گفتم، اما اينک با محبتی عميق تو را نزد خود برمیگردانم.»8خداوند كه حامی توست میفرمايد: «در لحظهٔ غضب، روی خود را از تو برگردانيدم، اما اينک با محبت جاودانی تو را دوست خواهم داشت.9«همانگونه كه در زمان نوح قسم خوردم كه ديگر نگذارم طوفان جهان را فرا گيرد، اكنون نيز قسم میخورم كه بار ديگر بر تو خشمگين نشوم و تو را تنبيه نكنم.10هر چند کوهها جابهجا شوند و تپهها نابود گردند، اما محبت من نسبت به تو هرگز از بين نخواهد رفت و پيمان سلامتیای كه با تو بستهام هيچوقت شكسته نخواهد شد.» خداوند كه تو را دوست دارد اين را میگويد.11«ای شهر داغديده و رنجور من كه تسلی نيافتهای، من تو را بازسازی خواهم كرد؛ تو را با سنگهای قيمتی بنياد خواهم نهاد.12برجهايت را با لعل و دروازهها و ديوارهايت را با گوهرهای درخشان بنا خواهم كرد.13همهٔ ساكنانت از من تعليم خواهند گرفت و سلامتی و كاميابی روز افزونی نصيب ايشان خواهد شد.14عدل و انصاف در تو حكمفرما خواهد شد و تو از ظلم و آزار ديگران در امان خواهی ماند. در صلح و آرامش به سر خواهی برد و ديگر نخواهی ترسيد.15اگر قومی بر تو هجوم آورند، اين امر با اجازهٔ من نخواهد بود. پس آنانی كه با تو بجنگند، از پای در خواهند آمد.16«آهنگر را كه آتش كوره را میدمد و اسلحه میسازد، من آفريدهام. سرباز را نيز كه اسلحه به دست میگيرد و میجنگد، من بوجود آوردهام؛17و من میگويم هر اسلحهای كه بر ضد تو ساخته شود كاری از پيش نخواهد برد و تو بر تمام مدعيانت غالب خواهی شد. من خدمتگزارانم را حمايت میكنم و به آنان پيروزی میبخشم.» اين است آنچه خداوند میفرمايد.
