1 The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.’ They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no-one who does good.** 2 God looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. 3 Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no-one who does good, not even one. 4 Do all these evildoers know nothing? They devour my people as though eating bread; they never call on God. 5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread. God scattered the bones of those who attacked you; you put them to shame, for God despised them. 6 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When God restores his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

Ein Lehrgedicht von David. 2 Dummköpfe denken: "Es gibt keinen Gott." / Sie richten Unheil an; / ihr Tun ist abscheuliches Unrecht. / Keinen gibt es, der Gutes tut. 3 Gott blickt vom Himmel auf die Menschen herab, / will sehen, ob einer dort verständig ist, / nur einer, der wirklich Gott sucht. 4 Doch alle haben sich von ihm entfernt, / sie sind alle verdorben. / Keiner tut Gutes, nicht einer davon.* 5 Wissen die Bösen denn nicht, was sie tun? / Sie fressen mein Volk, als wäre es Brot. / Gott rufen sie gewiss nicht an. 6 Da trifft sie Furcht und Schrecken, / obwohl es keinen Grund dafür gibt. / Gott zerstreut die Gebeine deiner Bedränger. / Du machst sie zuschanden, ‹Israel›, / denn Gott hat sich von ihnen abgewandt. 7 Wenn doch die Rettung aus Zion bald käme! / Wenn Gott dann die Not seines Volkes wendet, / wird Israel jubeln und Jakob sich freuen.
