1And it came to pass after these things, that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the palace of Ahab king of Samaria.2And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or , if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.3And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee.4And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread.5But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread?6And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.7And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.8So she wrote letters in Ahab' name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth.9And she wrote in the letters, saying, Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people:10And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die.11And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who were the inhabitants in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, and as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them.12They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.13And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.14Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.15And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead.16And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab rose up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.17And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,18Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, whither he is gone down to possess it.19And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the LORD, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.20And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee : because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.21Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel,22And will make thine house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, for the provocation wherewith thou hast provoked me to anger, and made Israel to sin.23And of Jezebel also spake the LORD, saying, The dogs shall eat Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel.24Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat.25But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.26And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.27And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.28And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,29Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days: but in his son' days will I bring the evil upon his house.

Ich will einen Gemüsegarten daraus machen, weil er so nahe an meinem Haus liegt, und ich will dir einen besseren Weinberg dafür geben; oder, wenn es dir gefällt, will ich dir Geld dafür geben, so viel er wert ist!3Aber Nabot sprach zu Ahab: Das lasse der HERR fern von mir sein, dass ich dir das Erbe meiner Väter geben sollte!4Da kam Ahab heim, missmutig und zornig um des Wortes willen, das Nabot, der Jesreelit, zu ihm gesprochen hatte: Ich will dir das Erbe meiner Väter nicht geben! Und er legte sich auf sein Bett, wandte sein Angesicht ab und aß nichts.5Da kam seine Frau Isebel zu ihm hinein und redete mit ihm: Warum bist du so missmutig und isst nichts?6Und er sprach zu ihr: Ich habe mit Nabot, dem Jesreeliten, geredet und zu ihm gesagt: Gib mir deinen Weinberg um Geld, oder, wenn es dir lieber ist, will ich dir einen anderen dafür geben! Er aber sprach: Ich will dir meinen Weinberg nicht geben!7Da sprach seine Frau Isebel zu ihm: Zeige jetzt, dass du König über Israel bist! Steh auf und iss etwas und sei guten Muts! Ich will dir den Weinberg Nabots, des Jesreeliten, verschaffen!8Und sie schrieb Briefe in Ahabs Namen und versiegelte sie mit seinem Siegel, und sie sandte sie an die Ältesten und die Edlen, die mit Nabot zusammen in seiner Stadt wohnten;9und sie schrieb in den Briefen Folgendes: Ruft ein Fasten aus und setzt Nabot obenan unter dem Volk;10und setzt ihm gegenüber zwei Männer, Söhne Belials*, die gegen ihn Zeugnis ablegen und sagen sollen: »Du hast Gott und dem König geflucht!« Und führt ihn hinaus und steinigt ihn, damit er stirbt!11Und die Männer seiner Stadt, die Ältesten und die Edlen, die in seiner Stadt wohnten, taten, wie Isebel ihnen aufgetragen hatte, wie in den Briefen geschrieben stand, die sie ihnen zugesandt hatte.12Sie ließen ein Fasten ausrufen und setzten Nabot obenan unter dem Volk.13Da kamen die beiden Männer, die Söhne Belials, und traten gegen ihn auf und legten Zeugnis ab gegen Nabot vor dem Volk und sprachen: Nabot hat Gott und dem König geflucht! Da führten sie ihn vor die Stadt hinaus und steinigten ihn, sodass er starb.14Und sie sandten Botschaft zu Isebel und ließen ihr sagen: Nabot ist gesteinigt worden und ist tot!15Und es geschah, als Isebel hörte, dass Nabot gesteinigt worden und tot sei, da sprach Isebel zu Ahab: Steh auf und nimm den Weinberg Nabots, des Jesreeliten, in Besitz, den er dir nicht um Geld geben wollte; denn Nabot lebt nicht mehr, er ist tot!16Als nun Ahab hörte, dass Nabot tot war, da machte er sich auf, um zum Weinberg Nabots, des Jesreeliten, hinabzugehen und ihn in Besitz zu nehmen.
Gottes Gerichtsurteil über Ahab und Isebel. Ahabs Reue
17Aber das Wort des HERRN erging an Elia, den Tisbiter, folgendermaßen:18Mache dich auf und geh hinab, Ahab entgegen, dem König von Israel, der in Samaria ist! Siehe, er ist im Weinberg Nabots, wohin er hinabgegangen ist, um ihn in Besitz zu nehmen.19Du sollst aber zu ihm sagen: So spricht der HERR: »Hast du gemordet und in Besitz genommen?« Und du sollst weiter mit ihm reden und sagen: So spricht der HERR: »An der Stelle, wo die Hunde das Blut Nabots geleckt haben, sollen die Hunde auch dein Blut lecken, ja, das deinige!«20Und Ahab sprach zu Elia: Hast du mich gefunden, mein Feind? Er aber sprach: Ja, ich habe dich gefunden, weil du dich verkauft hast, das zu tun, was böse ist in den Augen des HERRN!21Siehe, ich will Unheil über dich bringen und deine Nachkommen wegfegen, und ich will von Ahab ausrotten, was männlich ist, Mündige und Unmündige in Israel;22und ich will dein Haus machen wie das Haus Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, und wie das Haus Baesas, des Sohnes Achijas, um der Herausforderung willen, womit du mich zum Zorn herausgefordert und Israel zur Sünde verführt hast!23Und auch über Isebel redete der HERR und sprach: Die Hunde sollen Isebel fressen vor der Festungsmauer von Jesreel!24Wer von Ahab in der Stadt stirbt, den sollen die Hunde fressen, und wer auf dem Feld stirbt, den sollen die Vögel des Himmels fressen!25(Gar niemand war wie Ahab, der sich verkauft hatte, zu tun, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, wozu seine Frau Isebel ihn anstachelte.26Und er verübte sehr viele Gräuel, indem er den Götzen nachfolgte, ganz wie es die Amoriter getan hatten, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israels vertrieben hatte.)27Als aber Ahab diese Worte hörte, zerriss er seine Kleider und legte Sacktuch um seinen Leib und fastete und schlief im Sacktuch und ging still einher.28Da erging das Wort des HERRN an Elia, den Tisbiter, folgendermaßen:29Hast du nicht gesehen, wie sich Ahab vor mir demütigt? Weil er sich nun vor mir demütigt, will ich das Unheil nicht zu seinen Lebzeiten hereinbrechen lassen; erst zu Lebzeiten seines Sohnes will ich das Unheil über sein Haus bringen!
