1Verschaff mir Recht, Gott, /
und führe meinen Rechtsstreit gegen ein treuloses Volk!
Rette mich vor den bösen und tückischen Menschen!2Denn du bist der Gott meiner Zuflucht. /
Warum hast du mich verstoßen?
Warum muss ich trauernd umhergehn, vom Feind unterdrückt?3Sende dein Licht und deine Wahrheit;
sie sollen mich leiten;
sie sollen mich bringen zu deinem heiligen Berg
und zu deinen Wohnungen.4So will ich kommen zu Gottes Altar, /
zum Gott meiner Freude und meines Jubels.
Ich will dir danken zur Leier, Gott, du mein Gott.5Was bist du bedrückt, meine Seele,
und was ächzt du in mir?
Harre auf Gott; /
denn ich werde ihm noch danken,
der Rettung meines Angesichts und meinem Gott.

Send Out Your Light and Your Truth
1Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me!2For you are the God in whom I take refuge; why have you rejected me? Why do I go about mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?3Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling!4Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.5Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.
