God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:2“How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked?3Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.4Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”5They have neither knowledge nor understanding, they walk about in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.6I said, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you;7nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.”*8Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!

Gott steht auf in der Gottesversammlung,
inmitten der Götter hält er Gericht.2Wie lange noch wollt ihr ungerecht richten
und die Frevler begünstigen? [Sela]3Verhelft zum Recht den Geringen und Waisen,
dem Elenden und dem Bedürftigen schafft Gerechtigkeit!4Befreit den Geringen und Armen,
entreißt sie der Hand der Frevler!5Sie erkennen nicht, verstehen nichts, /
sie wandeln umher in Finsternis.
Alle Grundfesten der Erde wanken.6Ich habe gesagt: Ihr seid Götter,
ihr alle seid Söhne des Höchsten.7Doch nun sollt ihr sterben wie Menschen,
sollt stürzen wie einer der Fürsten.8Steh auf, Gott, und richte die Erde!
Denn alle Nationen werden dein Erbteil sein.
