1Así dijo YHVH: Ve y compra una vasija de barro de alfarero, y lleva contigo de los ancianos del pueblo y de los ancianos de los sacerdotes,2y sal al valle de Ben-Hinom, que está a la entrada de la puerta del alfarero, y proclama allí las palabras que Yo te diré.3Di: ¡Oh reyes de Judá, y vosotros, habitantes de Jerusalem, oíd el oráculo de YHVH! Así dice YHVH Sebaot, Dios de Israel: He aquí Yo traigo un mal sobre este lugar, tal así, que a todo el que lo oiga le retiñirán los oídos.4Porque me han abandonado y han enajenado este lugar, quemando allí incienso a otros dioses que ellos no conocieron, ni sus padres, ni los reyes de Judá, y han llenado este lugar de sangre de inocentes.5Y han edificado los lugares altos a Baal, para quemar con fuego a sus propios hijos como holocaustos a Baal; cosa que Yo no ordené ni dije, ni me pasó por el pensamiento.6Por tanto he aquí vienen días, dice YHVH, en que no se le llamará más a este lugar Tófet, ni Valle de Ben-Hinom, sino Valle de la Matanza.7Y haré nulo el consejo de Judá y de Jerusalem en este lugar, y los haré caer a espada ante sus enemigos, y en mano de quienes buscan su vida, y daré sus cadáveres como pasto a las aves del cielo y a las bestias de la tierra.8Convertiré esta ciudad en objeto de asombro y de silbido: todo el que pase por ella se asombrará y silbará a causa de todas sus plagas.9Haré que se coman la carne de sus propios hijos y la carne de sus propias hijas, y cada uno comerá la carne de su compañero, en el asedio y la aflicción con que los afligirán sus enemigos y los que buscan su vida.10Luego quebrarás la vasija ante los ojos de los hombres que vayan contigo,11y les dirás: Así dice YHVH Sebaot: De este modo quebraré a este pueblo y a esta ciudad, como se quiebra una vasija de alfarero, que no puede recomponerse más; y enterrarán en Tófet hasta no haber lugar.12Así haré con este lugar, dice YHVH, y con sus habitantes, hasta que esta ciudad sea como Tófet.13También las casas de Jerusalem y las casas de los reyes de Judá, que están contaminadas, serán como este lugar de Tófet: todas las casas sobre cuyos terrados queman incienso a todo el ejército de los cielos y vierten libaciones a otros dioses.14Y volvió Jeremías de Tófet, a donde lo había enviado YHVH a profetizar, y se puso de pie en el atrio de la Casa de YHVH, y dijo a todo el pueblo:15Así dice YHVH Sebaot, Dios de Israel: He aquí Yo traigo sobre esta ciudad y sobre todas sus aldeas todos los males que he hablado contra ella, por cuanto han endurecido su cerviz para no escuchar mis palabras.

1Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter' earthen bottle, and take of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;2And go forth unto the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the east gate, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell thee,3And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem; Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.4Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it unto other gods, whom neither they nor their fathers have known, nor the kings of Judah, and have filled this place with the blood of innocents;5They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it , neither came it into my mind:6Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that this place shall no more be called Tophet, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of slaughter.7And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives: and their carcases will I give to be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.8And I will make this city desolate, and an hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.9And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they shall eat every one the flesh of his friend in the siege and straitness, wherewith their enemies, and they that seek their lives, shall straiten them.10Then shalt thou break the bottle in the sight of the men that go with thee,11And shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaketh a potter' vessel, that cannot be made whole again: and they shall bury them in Tophet, till there be no place to bury.12Thus will I do unto this place, saith the LORD, and to the inhabitants thereof, and even make this city as Tophet:13And the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, shall be defiled as the place of Tophet, because of all the houses upon whose roofs they have burned incense unto all the host of heaven, and have poured out drink offerings unto other gods.14Then came Jeremiah from Tophet, whither the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD' house; and said to all the people,15Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.
