1Hablando ellos al pueblo, se les acercaron los sacerdotes, el jefe de la guardia del templo y los saduceos,2muy enojados porque ellos enseñaban al pueblo, y anunciaban en Jesús la resurrección de los muertos.3Y les echaron mano, y los pusieron bajo custodia hasta el día siguiente, porque ya era tarde.4Pero muchos de los que oyeron la palabra creyeron, y el total de los hombres fue cinco mil.5Al día siguiente, aconteció que se reunieron en Jerusalem sus gobernantes, y los ancianos, y los escribas;6y Anás, sumo sacerdote, y Caifás, y Juan y Alejandro, y todos los que eran del linaje de los sumos sacerdotes;7y poniéndolos en el medio, les preguntaron: ¿Con qué potestad, o en qué nombre habéis hecho vosotros esto?8Entonces Pedro, lleno del Espíritu Santo, les dijo: Gobernantes del pueblo y ancianos:9Puesto que hoy se nos interroga acerca de un beneficio hecho a un hombre enfermo, por quién haya sido sanado éste,10sea notorio a todos vosotros, y a todo el pueblo de Israel, que en el nombre de Jesús de Nazaret, el Mesías, a quien vosotros crucificasteis, a quien Dios resucitó de los muertos, por Él este hombre está sano delante de vosotros.11Éste es la piedra reprobada por vosotros los edificadores, la cual ha venido a ser cabeza de ángulo.12Y en ningún otro hay salvación; porque no hay otro nombre bajo el cielo, dado a los hombres, en que podamos ser salvos.13Observando entonces la osadía de Pedro y de Juan, y percatándose de que eran hombres del vulgo y sin letras, se asombraban, y reconocían que ellos habían estado con Jesús.14Y viendo al hombre que había sido sanado, en pie con ellos, no tenían nada que oponer.15Entonces les ordenaron que salieran fuera del Sanedrín, y deliberaban entre sí,16diciendo: ¿Qué haremos con estos hombres? Porque ciertamente una notable señal milagrosa ha sido hecha por medio de ellos, manifiesta a todos los que viven en Jerusalem, y no podemos negarla.17Sin embargo, para que no se divulgue más entre el pueblo, amenacémoslos severamente para que no hablen más en este nombre a ningún hombre.18Y llamándolos, les ordenaron que de ningún modo hablaran ni enseñaran en el nombre de Jesús.19Respondiendo entonces Pedro y Juan, les dijeron: Juzgad si es justo delante de Dios obedecer a vosotros antes que a Dios;20porque nosotros no podemos callar lo que hemos visto y oído.21Ellos entonces, no hallando cómo castigarlos por causa del pueblo, amenazándolos aún más, los soltaron; pues todos glorificaban a Dios por lo sucedido,22porque el hombre en quien había sido hecho este milagro de sanidad, tenía más de cuarenta años.
El poder de la oración
23Y puestos en libertad, fueron a los suyos, y contaron todo lo que los principales sacerdotes y los ancianos les habían dicho.24Y cuando ellos lo oyeron, alzaron unánimes la voz a Dios, y dijeron: Soberano, Tú eres el que hiciste el cielo y la tierra y el mar, y todo lo que en ellos hay;25que por medio del Espíritu Santo, por boca de tu siervo, nuestro padre David, dijiste: ¿Por qué se amotinan las naciones, Y los pueblos piensan cosas vanas?26Acudieron los reyes de la tierra, Y los príncipes a una se reunieron Contra el Señor, y contra su Ungido.27Porque verdaderamente se aliaron en esta ciudad contra tu santo Siervo Jesús, a quien ungiste, Herodes y Poncio Pilato, con los gentiles y los pueblos de Israel,28para hacer cuanto tu mano y tu designio predestinaron que sucediera.29Y ahora Señor, considera sus amenazas, y concede a tus siervos hablar tu palabra con todo denuedo;30mientras extiendes la mano para que haya sanidades y señales milagrosas, y prodigios mediante el nombre de tu santo Siervo Jesús.31Y cuando ellos oraron, el lugar en que estaban congregados tembló, y todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo, y hablaban con denuedo la palabra de Dios.
Los primeros creyentes
32Uno solo era el corazón y el alma de la multitud de los que creyeron, y ni uno solo decía ser suyo propio algo de lo que poseía, sino que tenían todas las cosas en común.33Y con gran poder los apóstoles daban el testimonio de la resurrección del Señor Jesús, y había abundante gracia sobre todos ellos.34Y no había ningún necesitado entre ellos, pues todos los que poseían tierras o casas, las vendían y llevaban el dinero de las cosas vendidas.35y lo ponían a los pies de los apóstoles, y se distribuía a cada uno según su necesidad.

36Entonces José, quien por los apóstoles era llamado Bernabé (que significa hijo de consolación), levita, natural de Chipre,37vendió una hacienda que tenía, y llevó el dinero y lo puso a los pies de los apóstoles.
