1Dijo ’Elohim a Jacob: Levántate, sube a Bet-’El y habita allí. Y haz allí un altar al Dios que se te apareció cuando huías delante de Esaú tu hermano.2Entonces dijo Jacob a su casa y a todos los que estaban con él: Quitad los dioses extraños que hay entre vosotros, purificaos y mudad vuestras ropas.3Levantémonos y subamos a Bet-’El, y haré allí un altar al Dios que me respondió en el día de mi angustia, y ha estado conmigo en el camino que he andado.4Le dieron, pues, a Jacob todos los dioses extraños que tenían en su mano, y los zarcillos que tenían en sus orejas, y Jacob los enterró bajo la encina que había junto a Siquem.5Luego partieron, y un terror sobrenatural sobrecogió a las ciudades circunvecinas, por lo cual no persiguieron a los hijos de Jacob.6Y llegó Jacob a Luz, que es Bet-’El, en tierra de Canaán, él y todo el pueblo que estaba con él.7Y edificó allí un altar, y llamó el lugar ’El-Bet-’El, porque allí se le había revelado ’Elohim cuando huía delante de su hermano.8Entonces murió Débora, nodriza de Rebeca, y fue sepultada en la parte baja de Bet-’El, debajo de la encina, y él la llamó Alón-bacut.9Y ’Elohim se apareció otra vez a Jacob después que había regresado de Padan-aram y lo bendijo,10y le dijo ’Elohim: Tu nombre es Jacob. Una nación y una congregación de naciones procederá de ti, y reyes saldrán de tus lomos.12La tierra que di a Abraham y a Isaac, te la doy a ti; también a tu simiente después daré la tierra.13Y ascendió ’Elohim de su lado, en el lugar donde había hablado con él.14Y erigió Jacob una estela en el lugar donde había hablado con él, una estela de piedra, y derramó sobre ella una libación, y vertió aceite sobre ella.15Y Jacob llamó Bet-’El el nombre del lugar donde ’Elohim había hablado con él.16Partieron de Bet-’El, y faltando aún como media legua de tierra para llegar a Efrata, le llegó a Raquel el trance de parir, pero su parto venía difícil.17Y aconteció que en la dificultad de su parto, la partera le dijo: No temas, que también tendrás este hijo.18Y ocurrió que al salírsele el alma (pues estaba muriendo), llamó su nombre Benoni, pero su padre lo llamó Benjamín.19Así murió Raquel, y fue sepultada en el camino de Efrata, (la cual es Bet-léhem).20Y erigió Jacob una estela sobre su sepultura. Ésta es la estela de la tumba de Raquel hasta hoy.21Y partió Israel, y plantó su tienda más allá de la torre de Éder.22Mientras Israel habitaba en aquella tierra, aconteció que Rubén fue y se acostó con Bilha, la concubina de su padre, e Israel se enteró.23Ahora bien, los hijos de Jacob fueron doce. Hijos de Lea: Rubén el primogénito de Jacob, y Simeón, y Leví, y Judá, e Isacar y Zabulón.24Hijos de Raquel: José y Benjamín.25Hijos de Bilha, sierva de Raquel: Dan y Neftalí.26E hijos de Zilpa, sierva de Lea: Gad y Aser. Estos fueron los hijos de Jacob que le nacieron en Padan-aram.27Y fue Jacob a su padre Isaac, en Mamre, ciudad de Arba, que es Hebrón, precisamente donde Abraham e Isaac habían peregrinado.28Y fueron los días de Isaac ciento ochenta años.29Y expiró Isaac y murió, y fue unido a su pueblo, anciano y lleno de días, y lo sepultaron sus hijos Esaú y Jacob.

1And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.2Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:3And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.4And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.5And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.6So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is , Bethel, he and all the people that were with him.7And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.8But Deborah Rebekah' nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allonbachuth.9And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him.10And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel.11And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;12And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land.13And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.14And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.15And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel.16And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour.17And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also.18And it came to pass, as her soul was in departing, (for she died) that she called his name Benoni: but his father called him Benjamin.19And Rachel died, and was buried in the way to Ephrath, which is Bethlehem.20And Jacob set a pillar upon her grave: that is the pillar of Rachel' grave unto this day.21And Israel journeyed, and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.22And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father' concubine: and Israel heard it . Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:23The sons of Leah; Reuben, Jacob' firstborn, and Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Zebulun:24The sons of Rachel; Joseph, and Benjamin:25And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel' handmaid; Dan, and Naphtali:26And the sons of Zilpah, Leah' handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these are the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padanaram.27And Jacob came unto Isaac his father unto Mamre, unto the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.28And the days of Isaac were an hundred and fourscore years.29And Isaac gave up the ghost, and died, and was gathered unto his people, being old and full of days: and his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.
