Salutación

1 Pablo y Timoteo, siervos de Jesús el Mesías, a todos los santos en Jesús el Mesías que están en Filipos, con los obispos y diáconos: 2 Gracia a vosotros y paz, de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesús, el Mesías.

Intercesión por los filipenses

3 Doy gracias a mi Dios cada vez que me acuerdo de vosotros, 4 siempre, en toda oración mía, haciendo súplicas con gozo por todos vosotros, 5 a causa de vuestra participación en el evangelio, desde el primer día hasta ahora; 6 estando plenamente convencido de esto mismo, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la seguirá perfeccionando hasta el día de Jesús el Mesías. 7 Y me es justo sentir esto acerca de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón, pues tanto en mis prisiones como en la defensa y consolidación del evangelio, todos vosotros sois copartícipes de mi gracia. 8 Porque Dios es mi testigo de cómo os anhelo vehementemente a todos vosotros en las entrañas de Jesús el Mesías. 9 Y esto oro: que vuestro amor abunde aún más y más en pleno conocimiento y en todo discernimiento, 10 para que sepáis discernir lo mejor; a fin de que seáis sinceros e irreprochables hasta el día del Mesías; 11 llenos del fruto de justicia, que es por medio de Jesús el Mesías, para gloria y alabanza de Dios.

Resultado de las tribulaciones

12 Quiero que sepáis, hermanos, que las cosas que me han sucedido han ayudado más para el progreso del evangelio, 13 de tal manera que mis prisiones por causa del Mesías son ya bien conocidas en todo el pretorio y a todos los demás. 14 Y la mayoría de los hermanos en el Señor, cobrando ánimo con mis prisiones, se atreven a hablar con denuedo la Palabra sin temor. 15 Algunos en verdad aún predican al Mesías por envidia y rivalidad, pero otros, de buena voluntad, 16 por amor, reconociendo que estoy puesto para la defensa del evangelio; 17 pero aquéllos, predican al Mesías por rivalidad egoísta, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción a mis prisiones. 18 ¿Entonces qué? Que de todos modos, por pretexto o por verdad, el Mesías es anunciado, y en esto me regocijo y me regocijaré, 19 porque sé que esto me resultará en liberación, por medio de vuestra oración y la suministración del Espíritu de Jesús el Mesías, 20 conforme a mi profunda expectación y esperanza de que en nada seré avergonzado, sino que, con toda confianza, como siempre, también ahora el Mesías será engrandecido en mi cuerpo, sea por medio de la vida, sea por medio de la muerte. 21 Porque para mí el vivir es el Mesías, y el morir es ganancia. 22 Pero si el vivir en el cuerpo resulta para mí un premio de labor, no sé entonces qué escogeré, 23 pues de ambos lados estoy constreñido, teniendo el anhelo de partir y estar con el Mesías, que es muchísimo mejor, 24 pero quedarme en la carne es más necesario para vosotros. 25 Y persuadido de esto, sé que permaneceré y continuaré ayudándoos a todos vosotros para vuestro progreso y gozo de la fe, 26 a fin de que vuestra satisfacción en Jesús el Mesías abunde a causa mía, por mi presencia otra vez con vosotros.

La lucha del cristiano

27 Solamente que os comportéis de una manera digna del evangelio del Mesías, para que, ya sea que vaya y os vea, ya sea que estando ausente, oiga acerca de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, unánimes, combatiendo juntos por la fe del evangelio; 28 en nada intimidados por los que se oponen, lo cual es para ellos evidente señal de perdición, mas para vosotros, de salvación, y eso de parte de Dios. 29 Porque a vosotros os ha sido concedido a causa del Mesías, no sólo que creáis en Él, sino que también padezcáis por Él, 30 teniendo vosotros el mismo conflicto que visteis en mí, y ahora oís que está en mí.

1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons: 2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, 4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, 5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; 6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: 7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. 8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ. 9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; 11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. 12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel; 13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places; 14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. 15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: 16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: 17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. 18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. 19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. 21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. 23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: 24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. 25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; 26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again. 27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. 29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; 30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
