1Todos los que están esclavos bajo yugo, consideren a sus propios amos dignos de todo honor, para que no sea difamado el nombre de Dios ni la doctrina.2Los que tienen amos creyentes no los tengan en menos por ser hermanos, al contrario, sírvanles mejor, por cuanto son creyentes y amados los que se benefician del servicio. Estas cosas enseña y exhorta.
Contra los falsos maestros
3Si alguno enseña otra cosa, y no se amolda a las sanas palabras, las de Jesús el Mesías, nuestro Señor, y a la doctrina que es conforme a la piedad,4está envanecido, nada entiende, sino que tiene manía por discusiones y contiendas de palabras, de las cuales surgen envidia, riña, difamaciones y malas sospechas,5disputas constantes de hombres corruptos, privados de la verdad, que suponen que la piedad es una fuente de ganancia.6Aunque, ¡fuente de gran ganancia es la piedad acompañada de contentamiento!7Porque nada trajimos al mundo y nada podemos sacar,8así que, teniendo sustento y abrigo, estemos contentos con esto,9pues los que quieren ser ricos caen en tentación y trampa y en muchas codicias insensatas y dañinas, las cuales hunden a los hombres en destrucción y perdición;10porque raíz de todos los males es el amor al dinero, el cual codiciando algunos se descarriaron de la fe, y se traspasaron a sí mismos con muchos dolores.
Al hombre de Dios
11Pero tú, oh hombre de Dios, huye de estas cosas, y sigue tras la justicia, la piedad, la fe, el amor, la paciencia, la mansedumbre.12Pelea la buena batalla de la fe, echa mano de la vida eterna, a la cual fuiste llamado, y delante de muchos testigos declaraste la buena confesión.13Te ordeno delante de Dios, quien da vida a todas las cosas, y de Jesús el Mesías, quien dio testimonio de la buena confesión delante de Poncio Pilato,14que guardes el mandamiento sin mancha, irreprensible, hasta la manifestación de Jesús el Mesías, nuestro Señor,15la cual mostrará a su debido tiempo el Bienaventurado y único Soberano, el Rey de los que reinan y Señor de los que gobiernan,16el Único que tiene inmortalidad, que habita en luz inaccesible, a quien ningún hombre vio ni puede ver. A Él sea honor y dominio eterno, amén.
La verdadera vida
17A los ricos de este mundo recomiéndales que no sean arrogantes ni pongan su esperanza en las riquezas, que son inciertas, sino en Dios, quien nos provee abundantemente de todas las cosas para disfrute;18que hagan el bien, que sean ricos en buenas obras, que sean generosos, dispuestos a compartir;19atesorando para sí mismos un buen fundamento para el tiempo venidero, a fin de que echen mano de la verdadera vida.
Consejos finales y despedida
20¡Oh Timoteo! guarda lo que se te encomendó, evitando profanas y vanas palabrerías, y los argumentos de la falsamente llamada ciencia,21la cual profesando algunos, se desviaron de la fe. La gracia sea con vosotros.

1Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.2And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.3If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.6But godliness with contentment is great gain.7For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.8And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.9But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.10For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.11But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.12Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.13I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;14That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:15Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;16Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.17Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;18That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;19Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.20O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:21Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.
