1 Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said, 

2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue. 

3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God. 

4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain. 

5 Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things , and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow. 

6 But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands: 

7 But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place. 

8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time. 

9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away: 

10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil. 

11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentiles: and the people fled from the Philistines. 

12 But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory. 

13 And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim. 

14 And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. 

15 And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! 

16 And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it , and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD. 

17 And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men. 

18 And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them , and had the name among three. 

19 Was he not most honourable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three. 

20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow: 

21 And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian' hand, and slew him with his own spear. 

22 These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men. 

23 He was more honourable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard. 

24 Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem, 

25 Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite, 

26 Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, 

27 Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite, 

28 Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite, 

29 Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin, 

30 Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash, 

31 Abialbon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite, 

32 Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan, 

33 Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite, 

34 Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite, 

35 Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite, 

36 Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite, 

37 Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah, 

38 Ira an Ithrite, Gareb an Ithrite, 

39 Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.

1 Und dies sind die letzten Worte Davids: »Es spricht David, der Sohn Isais, es spricht der Mann, der hoch erhoben wurde, der Gesalbte des Gottes Jakobs, der liebliche Psalmdichter in Israel: (1Sa 18:18; 2Sa 7:18; 2Sa 22:34; 1Ch 16:7; Ps 9:1; Ps 89:21) 

2 Der Geist des HERRN hat durch mich geredet, und sein Wort war auf meiner Zunge. (Mt 22:43; Heb 1:1; 2Pe 1:21) 

3 Der Gott Israels hat geredet, zu mir hat der Fels Israels gesprochen: Ein gerechter Herrscher über die Menschen, ein Herrscher in der Furcht Gottes, (2Sa 22:2; 2Sa 22:32; 2Ch 12:6; Ps 119:137; Pr 16:12; Pr 20:8; Isa 11:2) 

4 der ist wie das Licht am Morgen, wenn die Sonne aufgeht, ein Morgen ohne Wolken, wenn durch ihren Glanz das junge Grün nach dem Regen aus der Erde sprosst. (Jud 5:31; Ps 72:6; Pr 4:18; Ho 14:5; Mal 3:20) 

5 Ja, steht mein Haus nicht fest bei Gott? Denn er hat einen ewigen Bund mit mir gemacht, in allem wohlgeordnet und sicher — wird er nicht alles gedeihen lassen, was mir zum Heil und zur Freude dient? (Ps 89:3; Isa 55:3; Jer 23:5; Lu 1:69) 

6 Aber die Nichtswürdigen sind alle wie weggeworfene Dornen, die man nicht in die Hand nimmt. (Eze 2:6) 

7 Der Mann, der sie anrühren muss, wappnet sich mit Eisen oder Speerschaft; und sie werden vollständig mit Feuer verbrannt an ihrem Ort.« (Ps 21:10; Isa 27:4; Heb 6:8) 

Die Helden Davids

8 Dies sind die Namen der Helden Davids: Joscheb-Baschebet, der Tachkemoniter, das Haupt der Wagenkämpfer; das ist Adino, der Ezniter; [er siegte] über 800, die er auf einmal erschlagen hatte. (1Ch 11:10; 1Ch 11:11) 

9 Und nach ihm Eleasar, der Sohn Dodos, der Sohn eines Achochiters; er war unter den drei Helden mit David, als sie die Philister verhöhnten; diese sammelten sich dort zum Kampf, als die Männer von Israel weggezogen waren; (1Ch 11:12) 

10 er jedoch erhob sich und schlug die Philister, bis seine Hand müde wurde und seine Hand am Schwert klebte. So bewirkte der HERR an jenem Tag eine große Rettung, und das Volk kehrte um hinter ihm her, doch nur um zu plündern. (Ps 68:21) 

11 Und nach ihm Schamma, der Sohn Ages, des Harariters. Als die Philister sich zu einer Schar sammelten, war dort ein Ackerstück voll Linsen; und als das Volk vor den Philistern die Flucht ergriff, (Jud 13:1; Jud 15:9; Jud 16:27; 1Ch 11:13; 1Ch 11:27) 

12 da trat er mitten auf das Ackerstück und verteidigte es und schlug die Philister, und der HERR bewirkte eine große Rettung. (2Sa 23:10; Ps 3:9; Pr 21:31) 

13 Und [die] drei unter den 30 Obersten zogen hinab und kamen zur Erntezeit zu David in die Höhle Adullam, während eine Schar von Philistern im Tal der Rephaiter lag; (Ge 38:1; 1Sa 22:1; 2Sa 5:18; Ne 11:30) 

14 David aber war zu der Zeit in der Bergfeste, und eine Besatzung der Philister befand sich damals in Bethlehem. (1Sa 22:4; 2Sa 5:17; 1Ch 12:16) 

15 Und David hatte ein Gelüste und sprach: Wer wird mir Wasser zu trinken geben aus dem Brunnen von Bethlehem unter dem Tor? (Ex 20:17; 1Co 10:6; Ga 5:17) 

16 Da brachen die drei Helden durch das Lager der Philister hindurch und schöpften Wasser aus dem Brunnen von Bethlehem unter dem Tor, trugen es her und brachten es zu David. Er aber wollte es nicht trinken, sondern goss es als Trankopfer aus vor dem HERRN, (Ge 35:14; Nu 6:14; So 8:6; Ac 20:24; Ac 21:13; 2Co 5:14; Php 2:17) 

17 und er sprach: Es sei fern von mir, o HERR, dass ich so etwas tue! Ist es nicht das Blut der Männer, die ihr Leben gewagt haben und hingegangen sind? — Darum wollte er nicht trinken. Das taten die drei Helden. (Ps 72:14; Mt 26:28; Mr 14:24) 

18 Und Abisai, der Bruder Joabs, der Sohn der Zeruja, der war das Haupt der drei; der zückte seinen Speer gegen 300, die er erschlug, und er hatte einen Namen unter den dreien. (1Sa 26:6; 2Sa 2:18; 1Ch 2:16) 

19 War er nicht der Geehrteste von den dreien und wurde ihr Oberster? Aber an jene drei reichte er nicht heran. (2Sa 23:9; 2Sa 23:13; 2Sa 23:16) 

20 Und Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, der Sohn eines tapferen Mannes, groß an Taten, aus Kabzeel, erschlug die beiden mächtigen Helden von Moab; er stieg auch hinab und tötete einen Löwen in einer Zisterne zur Schneezeit. (Jos 15:21; Jud 14:6; 1Sa 17:34; 2Sa 8:18; 1Ki 1:38; 1Ki 2:29; 1Ch 11:22; Ne 11:25) 

21 Er erschlug auch einen stattlichen ägyptischen Mann, der einen Speer in der Hand trug; er aber ging zu ihm hinab mit einem Stock, und er riss dem Ägypter den Speer aus der Hand und tötete ihn mit seinem eigenen Speer. (1Sa 17:45; 1Sa 17:49; 1Sa 17:51) 

22 Das tat Benaja, der Sohn Jojadas, und er war berühmt unter den drei Helden. 

23 Er war der berühmteste der dreißig, aber an jene drei reichte er nicht heran. Und David setzte ihn über seine Leibwache. (2Sa 20:23; 1Ki 4:4) 

24 Asahel, der Bruder Joabs, war unter den Dreißig; Elchanan, der Sohn Dodos, von Bethlehem; (2Sa 2:18; 2Sa 21:19)
